Twisted Metal was among the most anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive titles to release this holiday season. Keyword being “was”. Unfortunately, it won’t be making its schedule October 4th release date… Not even close.
David Jaffe just delivered some good news and bad news on the PlayStation.Blog. The good news wasn’t quite good enough, and the bad news, well… it’s definitely going to disappoint a lot of fans.
Twisted Metal will not be releasing on the previously planned October 4th release date, and instead, is set for sometime in “early 2012″. The extra time, Jaffe says, will be spent on polishing and fine-tuning to make the game “so much better than it already is”. Jaffe then leaves us with the following quote, which any angry fans should really take to heart:
‘A late game is only late until it ships. A bad game is bad until the end of time.’
We’ll be sure to keep you posted when a new release date is announced.
i saw this coming, too many great games coming out in october. im still buying though
They made that trailer announcing the EXACT day it was coming out and now they delay it? it seems to me it was pretty much finished they set the day and everything….the only reason is being delayed is clear: MAJOR FPS SATURATION + TPS like Uncharted 3 ……and Gears of Bore….
This doesn’t bum me out at all, allows for some space to beat all the fall releases and allows for a much better game and much more free time to own people on it in 2012
. I think the big issue is there is only a minority who remember the good ps1 days of split screen and owning your little brother on TM2, most amongst the growing online population are only familiar with FPS shooters; so imo this will definitely be a nice fresh of breath air in the online gaming arena and it’ll become very popular.
Actually kinda fitting considering 2012 has the whole end of the world apocalypse ordeal, Jaffe for lulz sake please throw in a Mayan Doomsday level!
glad they did that
TM was going to get completely lost on the tsunami of MW3, BF3, U3, Gears 3, Dark Souls, Skyrim, Arkham City ETC!!!!
This is a disappointment since TM is near the top of my wanted list, but at least this ensures 2012 will be a great year too. There are enough big releases later this year, anyway.
I agree. It fits my schedule just right. I mean, how many games can we handle at once anyway? And if a couple of those games are heavy-MP based then it makes even less sense to get them at once just to put them on queue. As much as I anticipated Twisted Metal, the release of Dark Souls on the exact same date meant I was just not going to touch TM for a very long while…then Uncharted 3 is around the corner and I’m very much into the MP so even after I platinum U3 I’ll be playing the hell out of that and at the same time while I start some other single-player game (most likely Batman Arkham City). When all that’s done, it’ll be time for Skyrim (Christmas, probably).
And that’s only me, a gamer who has no interest in FPS like COD MW3 or BF3…but I might play Resistance 3 since I’d like to know how the story ends….but then I have to make time for Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection and MGS Collection….arrgg!…see, there’s no way I’m making time to squeeze Twisted Metal multiplayer in there somehow, I ‘m not a big MP player but I really do plan to play TM for both its SP and MP, but I’ll be already into too many stuff and U3 will satisfy my MP needs just fine.
Yeah, this lightens the “Holy shit Fall is crazy” factor a bit, so I’m okay with it, cause frankly I don’t have the time for all the awesome games coming up.
Plus, as fun as the demo at E3 was, I think the graphics could really use some more polish. Everything else seemed pretty solid, but for a first party title the presentation was kind of unimpressive. Everything else seemed pretty solid though, so I wonder if that’s what they’re working on, or if there were other issues too that I didn’t see.
the good thing about the crowded fall is that you pick 2 or 3 games, then get the rest early next year at price drops. i love loaded falls, because i buy at my own pace lol
well, if he needs the time to make the game good, then i can’t complain.
ah come on ! oh well at least we have resistance and uncharted…
For the best really, can’t wait.
Goddamn it…
Well, at least that means that October is a Dark Souls month.
4 Sonys coming out late, one had to go. Thank God. Now I can buy…something. Maybe BF3 maybe Rage.
Batman. Totally Batman will be filling the gap. Way better too because it comes more towards the middle which gives my wallet more regen time from Resistance 3.
