Last night while recording our podcast, we discussed this upcoming week’s notable PlayStation 3 releases… or lack thereof. That’s right, there isn’t any. It’s a stale week for PlayStation 3 gamers, at least at the retail level. But take this as the calm before the storm, as Sony has some of their heaviest hitters releasing this September. Let’s take a look.
Resistance 3 - Release Date: September 6th
Resistance 3 is mankind’s final stand against the Chimeran invasion. Following the dramatic events of Resistance 2, the series is left without a protagonist… until Joseph Capelli steps in. Rather than fighting for a faceless army, Capelli fights for the survival of his friends and family – and for the rest of humanity. Resistance 3 features everything that made the first two titles so spectacular, but with a much darker tone, along with PlayStation Move and 3D support. Pre-order Resistance 3 now.
Resistance 3: Doomsday Edition – Release Date: September 6th
This Resistance 3 bundle features the full game, a PlayStation Move controller, PlayStation Move Navigation Controller, PlayStation Eye camera, and a PlayStation Move Sharpshooter attachement. Buying these items separately would cost you roughly $200, but this bundle is a value at $149.99. Pre-order Resistance 3: Doomsday Edition now.
God of War: Origins Collection – Release Date: September 13th
God of War: Origins Collection contains everything you need to know about Kratos’ past. This collection takes the two PSP God of War titles, God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and gives them an HD makeover. This collection is perfect for gamers without a PSP, or couldn’t take the PSP’s control scheme and would prefer to play on a Dualshock 3 controller. Pre-order God of War Origins Collection now.
ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection – Release Date: September 27th
This much-anticipated collection puts two of the PlayStation 2′s most venerable classics into one value package. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are both remastered in full HD and 3D, complete with trophies. At $39.99, it’s a collection you simply shouldn’t miss – especially if you happened to have missed either of the two included titles on the PS2. Pre-order ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection now.
Official PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset – Release Date: September (Note: Amazon says October 1st, but Sony announced it for September) [Thanks, Corey!]
The official PlayStation 3 Wireless Stereo Headset is packed with cutting-edge tech to keep you at the top of your game. The 7.1 virtual surround-sound puts you one step ahead of your enemies, while keeping you in constant communication with your teammates for some serious pwnage. The built-in rechargable batter last for up to 7 hours on a single charge, ensuring you get into the action and stay in it. Pre-order the Official PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset now.
Other notable PS3 titles in September include the following titles:
I’ll be getting the Ico/SotC collection – I loved Ico and never played SotC – but I’m not so sure about any of the others.
I loved Resistance but not Resistance 2, and remain to be convinced about 3. I’ve never been bothered about God of War either.
As for the others… I might be interested in Dead Island, depending on reviews, but the rest… nope.
You’ve never bothered with God of War? Shame on you!
Yeah, everyone has to like everything, hadn’t you heard!?
Sev, do you know if there is a “Collection Edition” for ICO/SotC planned when The Last Guardian comes out (like the Ultimate Trilogy for God of War)? I would really like to buy the collection on day one, but I don’t want to buy the collection + a possible limited edition.
I haven’t heard anything about that, but it’s possible. Who knows when The Last Guardian will actually release, so it would be sad to miss out on ICO and SOTC Collection for all that time until it does.
I’d say it probably won’t happen, and if it were to, it wouldn’t be until holiday 2012 at the earliest which is when I expect The Last Guardian to release.
Don’t forget that the official PlayStation Headset is coming out in September as well!
Good catch! I’ll add that now. And you get the thumbs up.
I feel like a kid in a toy store. “I want that one and that one and that one”. too many games. sorry September games some of you won’t be getting played for a while but I still love you all.
i feel ya on that one. some many games, so little time. in my case, so little funds also.
WKC 2 FTW!!
looks like it’s all about the God of War origins collection and Resistance 3
GoW Origins Collection, Ico/Shadow Collection and Resistance 3 will keep me busy til October and November’s onslaught!
White Knight Chronicles 2, God of War PSP collection, PS3 headset, and….AND….AAANNNDDD!!!!!! Team ICO COLLECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One, they have one AAA title coming out.
Beginning September, well, if you haven’t been saving up every nickle you had, because the next 3-4 months, are GOING TO BE INSANE! The amount of titles, and not just all titles, the ELITE OF THE ELITE are coming out and maybe the 1st time in our lives, our mind will do battle against itself, trying to figure out WTF am I gonna play, and for how long? Ok, do I go thru initial story mode, and jam that out to get onto MP. Or. Dive head1st into MP, holding off the main story because we need the XP, but I have Uncharted sitting here, still unopened..Ok, get that on, again decide vs storyline, or MP….make the choice and by the time the “gettins good”..here comes Call of Duty…and then comes….MEDS.. LOTS AND LOTS OF MEDS LOL
Wow so many exclusive games, this is why Playstation and Sony will always be ahead of the pack
It’s not just how many titles come out, which us gamers know going back say to the PS2..if they release for example 100 games a year. Out of those 100, there are how many ELITE titles. CoD, GoW, GTA, LBP 1&2 ETC…Out of those 100 games, say 15-20 are the ELITE of the Elite, another 20 or so that are excellent, 40 are decent, but not enough to garner mass raves all around, some will love them, others wont…then comes the bottomw feeders, the ones that either look like shit, or play like shit. Transformers, looked great, when they transformed, loooked awesome, fluid, but the controls sucked, the game itself sucked and I think got a 4/10 rating IF THAT.
Those are the 2 most annoying things in ALL of gaming for me, and I would assume others as well. Games cost over $60, and we want our money’s worth. And for me, it’s STILL after the PS2, it’s mind blowing that a company, can create a game, say ex. Transformers, thousands of dollars into paying salaries, creating a game, and they have the audacity to release them.
I sent Sony 3 letters after the PS2 came over a few years, when i rented a game and had no choice but complain on how awflul it is. WE AS GAMERS, HAVE TO UNITE ABOUT THIS.. yes, i AM complaining about this. Most recently over the past 3 years, i have again sent in emails & letters complaining on how a studio, can tae months, in some case years, creating game, test it internally, put the finishing touches on it, slap a label and then release it.
We buy it or rent it, and either in the 1st 10 seconds if its gonna be good, or suck, but then the game is truely horrible, and yet the studio’s STILL RELEASE IT, and the game just ABSOLUTELY SUCKS ASS.
Driver: San Francisco – Can finally pretend I have a Challenger
Warhammer 40k Space Marine – Will rent, not so sure about.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten – Only must buy on the list.
Rest are meh to complete ignore.
If this is considered “packed with exclusives”, I’d hate to see what a slow month looks like.
