Analyst Believes GTA V Won’t Arrive Until Late 2012 at the Earliest

With Rockstar currently hard at work on the upcoming Max Payne 3, which is expected to arrive sometime during March of next year, it is unlikely that we’ll see the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series for some time.

According to analyst Doug Creutz of Cowen & Company, publisher Take-Two will likely want to hold off on releasing GTA V in an effort to distance the title from the latest installment in the Max Payne franchise. So Creutz has come to the conclusion that gamers likely won’t see another Grand Theft Auto until the holiday season next year at best.

Here’s what he had to say in an investor’s note:

With the announcement, we are increasingly convinced that we will not see the next Grand Theft Auto title until (at least) holiday 2012.

We doubt that Rockstar would launch two of its titles in close proximity to each other given the studio’s elaborate marketing campaigns and the likelihood that GTA could cannibalize sales from MP3 if launched in late spring.

Sounds reasonable enough, but how long can you wait until the next GTA comes out?

  1. That seems like a good release date.

For the sake of my wallet please keep them far apart.

  3. Consedering that Rockstar likes to release their games right before the Summer drought; look at Red Dead Redemption, and L.A. Noire. I’m thinking GTA V will get a May or June release in 2013.

Take your time Rockstar, no need to rush

  5. Hey Rockstar, this probably last GTA on PS3 before next to future console. I hope Rockstar will work on PS3 first and not that shit360 or otherwise we get limted of stuff in game because of xbox360.

Man i really hope its PS3 exclusive i mean they can do so much more unlike la noire that because xbox couldn’t handled more space and both games have to be identical they had cut a lot of cases off the game.

I don’t think it’d be fair on 360 owners to make it PS3 exclusive. I hated it when Splinter Cell decided to have one of their games go 360 only and I wouldn’t wish that on any 360 owner. It’s annoying as hell. I think if they develop for the PS3 and port to the 360 that could work as I’ve heard before that porting it this way actually benefits both the PS3 and 360.

Something tells me though that Rockstar is waiting to make Agent and GTA V for the PS4 and whatever console Micosoft release to replace the XBOX 360. They’d make for great launch titles and Microsoft could very well move towards Blu-ray.
