Assassin’s Creed: Revelations has been confirmed to bring Altair and Ezio’s stories to a close, but what about the game’s present day protagonist Desmond? According to Ubisoft’s Alexandre Amacio we won’t have to wait long to see how it all ends for everyone’s favorite modern-day assassin-in-training.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Amacio went so far as to say that next year’s installment in the franchise will wrap up Desmond’s journey.
In Assassin’s Creed we set up a timeline with this whole end of the world plot of December 2012. That’s fast approaching, and the story we have to tell, we obviously need to do it before we arrive at that point.
We had such a complex and strong narrative that we ourselves did our best to just try to execute these games before that date. It would be stupid of us to be centring a game on a semi-reality and then have that conclusion happen after that date in real life.
Amacio also went on to add that should the franchise continue beyond 2012, gamers will see a completely new protagonist and a departure from the series’ current annual release schedule.
2012 can’t come soon enough. In the meantime, look for Assassin’s Creed: Revelations when it launches this November.
I highly doubt the departure of an annual release schedule will be true. Hope they prove me wrong.
lol i hope they don’t release on the day the world actually has to end otherwise will have to speed run the shit of it
In a way I’m kinda excited for December 22nd 2012 as it’s the day the world realises that the mayans are the biggest trolls in the universe. As for this game, they didn’t need to release Revalations, they could have waited for 2012.
I hope they can continue to improve on their games within a one year development cycle…most developers couldn’t do it, and while Assassin’s Creed isn’t the best gaming franchise out there it is a solid franchise and they make enough improvements every year to keep it interesting.
Yeah, actually I’m pretty curious as to how they plan on keeping this pace up, cause it’s damn incredible. I look at other franchises with annual releases…. and while they have the sales, it’s nowhere near the quality.
