PSLS Exclusive: Sideway: New York Dev Diary, Day One

10/24/2011 Written by Sebastian Moss

Having released earlier this month, we gave Sideway: New York high marks for its unique and enjoyable gameplay, as well as its beautiful and vibrant colors. But if you’re still on the fence about the title, or are a fan and want to know more about the development process behind the game, we’ve teamed up with Playbrains and Fuel Entertainment for 5 exclusive video logs, which we’ll release all week long. And, if that wasn’t enough, we’re also giving away 2 codes to the full game, every single day.

To start off the run of PSLS-only vids, Mike Burns, Executive Producer of Fuel Entertainment chats about the story of Sideway – but don’t worry, there aren’t any spoilers!

Come back tomorrow for another video, from another developer at Playbrains, and tune in each weekday for a different vid from a different Playbrains developer.

Plus, if you want to win a US code to the game, simply leave a comment below!

  1. (Not intended to enter for the giveaway) This is really cool, getting to know the team developers behind a fun PSN Exclusive game tend to show you that people still care.

It’s really cool to see videos like this. I really like this game. Having the building turn with you is a really cool twist on platform games. Looking forward to more videos.

  3. this is soooo coool. i saw the game and was iffy about it. being that the game has a weird perspective and all. now after watching the vid. it looks so awesome. great to see articles like this highlighting the devs and artists. we as gamers need to show a lot more appreciation to the developers and artists. we tend to criticise and not innovate as users and we take that privilege for granted. not realising the amount of work, dedication and passion that goes into a title. kudos to you guys and this wonderful highlight article

I played the Demo and it is a really great game. When I get the time after BF3 and UC3 I will have to look into getting it. But my hesitancy is not just those but in facts that our current FCC and other Gov’t Officials want a Kill switch for the Internet and if they get it there will be no access to online gaming and so I am looking more for disc or memory card based gaming in Single Player/Campaign mode. Back to the Future.

Loved the demo. I would have bought it with my PS+ discount if I wasn’t unemployed and broke:(

  6. I think this game would have better recognition if it had a better title. I mean, being Indie is already tough enough as it is but the name Aideways just do not sound as good as Machinarium or World of Goo or Limbo. A lot of people tend to unintentionally leave out games with complicated long titles that are unknown and as a result missing out on a great game. And Sideways does indeed look fun and I have not heard of it until today because of its long uninteresting name.

  7. The game looks interesting. It looks like a fun sidescroller for PSN.

  9. This game looks like fun. A nice fresh twist on classic gameplay. Will go on the “once I get a job” list!

  13. Really enjoyed the demo and bought the full version, and it gets even better. Looking forward to what they come out with next. The only negative I had was the music, so I just played some old school 80s hip hop for background music.

  14. Daryl says:

It sure looks cool. The art style alone make me want this game. It’s quirky and colorful. The gameplay seems fun too.

Lot’s of great PSN releases this month. As if all the A+ titles that were coming weren’t enough. XD
