Analyst Predicts 9 Million Modern Warfare 3 Preorders

Despite aging consoles, a poor economy and gamers increasingly moving to free-to-play titles, Call of Duty continues to defy trends, and breaks records every time it is released. Modern Warfare 3 is set to be no different, and will certainly be one of the most profitable products in any category this holiday season. With the game out now in most of the world, an analyst has presented his findings on just how many gamers have preordered MW3.

Lazard Capital Markets analyst Atul Bagga, predicts that 9 million people have preordered Modern Warfare 3 for the week ending on November 4th, up 70% from Modern Warfare 2 and 555 from Black Ops during the same time before launch. Overall, Lazard Capital Markets expects Modern Warfare 3 to sell more than 20 million units worldwide by the end of the year, compared to lifetime-to-date sales of 22 million units for Modern Warfare 2 and 25 million for Black Ops.

EA’s Battlefield 3, on the other hand, became their fastest selling game ever, and sold an impressive 5 million in its first week, with preorders numbered at over 3 million units, according to the publisher .
