Yamauchi: “Of Course We’re Working on GT6 Already”

11/10/2011 Written by Sebastian Moss

After numerous delays, Gran Turismo 5 finally released at the end of last year, but despite over six years of development, many felt the game was rushed and missed many important features – most of which were luckily fixed with a recent DLC update. Polyphony Digital may be promising more GT5 DLC every two months, but they’re also hoping to get a head start on the next game in the racing franchise, Gran Turismo 6.

Kazunori Yamauchi told IGN in an interview:

Of course we’re working on GT6 already and I think what really will be the separating factor is something that we can’t update through a DLC is something that obviously has to be saved for GT6. Things that we can provide through DLC we will, so that’s really the market difference.

Considering how long GT games take to develop, GT6 may end up being a PS4 title. What would you like to see in the next Gran Turismo? Let us know in the comments below.

    “luckily fixed”? What do you mean?

    GT6… hum…
    I wish more F1 cars;
    a better WRC integration with a refined track generation;
    more real life tracks locations with day light cycle;
    get rid of the “you must always finish first in a 3 laps race after you start at last position” in A-Spec (ridiculous);
    REAL car damage and activated way SOONER in career’s progress;
    strengthen CLEAN racing off AND online (better overall penality system);
    more flexibility to create custom events like Arcade mode but in Career mode;
    more granularity over options like what’s shown on HUD;
    upload replays on YouTube or whatever;
    more Premium cars;
    showroom mode for Premium cars like Forza;
    better DLC integration (new events made from new tracks, new cars can be bought from Retailers, etc);
    Porsche;

    … this is all I can recall for the moment ;)

  2. i join your cause

    Compared to Forza 3 and 4 GT5 menus and everything (except the actual driving ) is way off

    GT4 is more polished than GT5

    and the standard cars are shitty. Hate them!!

    hello …

    now that Forza 4 is out they really need to tease people with GT6 else may lose that battle way too early.

    GT5 is a good game i never bought, please PD pump the hype meter for GT6 yet won’t buy on Day 1 :P

    cheers!

  4. GT5 remains the top dog until this day. I’m no racing game fan but GT5 is the only racing game that I can say I really enjoyed playing. It offers very immersive game play and customisation. There are heaps of cars to be had which I collect. Best racing game by a country mile.

  5. PS1 = GT1 + GT2
    PS2 = GT3 + GT4
    PS3 will = GT5 + ‘GT6′
    Easy no? LoL + Nothing this gen looks as real as GT5 :P

    Visual and performance damage right at the beginning of the game and in every aspect. From career to arcade to online. There is no time like now to learn how to race clean.
