Sony Prepares For the Holiday, Advertises PlayStation Move

11/15/2011 Written by Sebastian Moss

With the holiday season in full swing, millions of consumers are starting to buy presents and gifts for their friends and family, as well as for themselves. As such, it’s a perfect time for more casual products like the PlayStation Move to reach the mass market and become household names.

To ensure that the motion controller peripheral is a holiday hit, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has unveiled a new ad that is already playing on TVs across Europe:

Leon Sanders, PS3 Brand Manager SCEE, explained the motive behind the advert on the EU PS Blog:

We have moved away from the usual motion gaming ads you are likely to have seen before (all smiles and bright white living rooms) towards a more stylised and epic narrative approach.

What do you think of the ad? Does it make you want to buy the glowing controller? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Makes me feel like I could get laid playing Move….

    • FiftyQuid says:

Wait… It won’t get me laid?

      I don’t know about this commercial. Personally I think Sony is going to over the top in all their commercials. The commercials are great, but they are just sooooo artist. Just once I’d like to see;

“It has Blu-ray, motion gaming, exclusives, etc for $249! Get off the couch and go buy one already!” being yelled by a spokesman.

    • Hahaha with some jager bombs anything is possible…

  2. ZombieHell says:

    Yeah what gtamaster said

  3. batdump says:

Its too bad there isn’t actually that much to do with the move. I wish there were more move games

  4. Azaria says:

It seems like a lot to put into something with a small gaming library…. Ah well, the commercial was great. I have tons of fun with the Move when I find a good game for it. Hopefully they start working on some really good titles for it!

  5. Axl Rose says:

Finally a commecial that is not creepy and weird! This I like a lot! I love the MOVE! :D

  6. The UK always gets the decent advertising… -_- This commercial is actually brilliant, but if we never see it state-side… meh…

  7. I liked it but it really only focused on the casual end of the move and the moves strong point over its competition is the fact it can do hardcore games much better and has a wider supported library; imo sony should get aggressive and use the same advertising tactics sega did against nintendo back in the day.

  8. Sony needs to really advertise more and I’m glad they are starting to see the benefits of advertising. The sad thing is I’ve havent seen much TV adds for PS3 or it’s games. Didnt see any Uncharted 3 TV ads, did anyone see it? Uncharted 3 is supposed to be there biggest franchies and rightly so. Its simply the best game ever made. No game can match it’s epicness and superb graphics.

Nice ad but why do they advertise with adults/grown-ups when the actual move games are made for kids? That makes no sense at all. Where are the adult move games we are longing for? Games where we can do swordplay or something like that (Medieval moves is a really nice try and makes fun for the first time but again it’s a game made for the young). I’d rather expect to see an ad where a young girl pet a virtual puppy …

Sony, stop fooling us! The move controllers are expensive enough to expect some serious move games. Today we are still waiting but tomorrow we could resign.
