Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell Trilogy HD has been patched to add inverted aim support after fans clamored for the simple, yet vital feature.
The lack of inverted controls was something we picked up on in our review, with PSLS’ Ray Conley saying: “What seems almost completely standard for any game nowadays, Ubisoft failed (or forgot) to include the little “inverted” ticker option to help those who can’t as easily flip that switch in their minds to turn off their built-in inverted feature.”
Luckily, the control scheme has finally been added to the game through a patch, adding what was originally available in Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
If you’re a fan of using the inverted control scheme, will this entice you to pick up the game, or are you sad that Ubisoft also left out multiplayer? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
I honestly had no idea this was such a huge deal that it could effect the rating on a review of the game. That’s really odd to me.
Considering how they gave AC Revelations a 9/10 and mentioned “In the same era” as a negative in the summary WITHOUT mentioning the positive multiplayer in the summary, this doesn’t surprise me.
Who honestly uses inverted aim support in anything but a airplane simulator?
That was my question. But apparently it’s some huge omission on Ubisoft’s part. I honestly don’t know a single person who thinks up should be down and down should be up, especially when shooting. But I guess they’re out there.
I use inverted aim.
In real life, how do you look up? Tilt your head back. How do you look down? Tilt your head forward. Do you see now?
I don’t think about the direction my head is moving I think about the direction my eyes are going. When I look up, my eyes go up. when I look down, my eyes go down. I don’t get how anyone can think backwards like that. But I guess it’s like being left handed. Either way, I still don’t think it’s a big enough deal to effect the score of a review. It’s a relatively small thing.
You don’t have to think about it, that is what is literally happening when you look up at the ceiling/stars and down at the floor/ground. Unless your neck is broken?
I mean in terms of video games. If I want to look up, I need the view to go up. So I press up. If I want to look down, I need the view to go down. So I press down. I don’t think about it in terms of the mechanics of how my head moves. I think of it in terms of the direction my eyes move. Up is up and down is down. Unless I’m flying an airplane.
Ha I also use invertedcontrols and i’m left handed, I must really be screwed.
