Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has revealed the list of games that will be compatible with the UMD Passport program, where users can can purchase digital copies of their PSP games at a discounted price for the PlayStation Vita.
Currently, 262 of the 606 games available on the Japanese PlayStation Store will be able to be re-bought at a price between ¥500 ($6.40) to ¥1500 ($19.20) when players register their games as part of their UMD Passport program.
The program features games from Atlus, Nippon Ichi, Acquire, Tecmo Koei, SNK Playmore and Cyberfront, but major Japanese publishers like Capcom, Square Enix, Namco Bandai and Konami aren’t supporting the upgrade option.
As yet, Sony hasn’t announced a UMD Passport program for other regions. If they do, how much would you be willing to pay to have your games available digitally?

Luckily I never really got in to the PSP. The Vita will be my first major Portable since the GB Color. I’ve been a Console user ever since. I did buy FF7:CC and borrow my friends PSP to play it, but that was it.
Have we confirmed that digital PSP games will work fine on the Vita? I have a few PSP games from PS+ and the Welcome Back program. And from what I hear, PS1 classics wont work? I’m creating quite a collection of those too thanks to PS+, so that will be disappointing more than anything else…
Personally, I wouldn’t pay more than £1/$1 a game, as I’ve already paid for it, and don’t feel it should be necessary to cover anything other than the minimum costs.
Fortunately, I’m not the sort of person who keeps playing previous-generation games for more than a few weeks after a new system arrives, so it’s not an issue for me. Those games I would possibly want to keep playing on Vita I already have in digital form anyway.
@ tazinlwfl – Vita will play PS1 games, but not at launch. Apparently.
Then I’ll probably wait until next Black Friday to snag one for 1/2 off…
Lucky for my I only have 3 UMD games (Peacewalker and Kingdom Hearts are the only 2 I care about). I’ve bought most of my games digitally from the store.
buying a vita, I own like 6-10 PSP games, and I’m not buying a vita to play them.
If I want to play PSP games, I can play them on PSP…ALL OF THEM (for free if you prefer).
just keep ur psp’s to play umd’s if u still want to play them, its not like vita adds anything to psp games , pretty sure vita will play all the digital games from psp though , hopefully they patch it to play ps1 classics.
Would this consider movies cuz I have 2 movies

I have a PSP. I am not paying to have my games put on a completly new handheld. If I want to play my old games, I will play my old PSP.
The math is simple : say they charge $5 for every UMD you want to transfer to Vita. If you plan to transfer 20 games, that’s $100 dollars you’d better spend buying a new PSP and play your damn old UMDs, end of story. Now if you MUST have A COUPLE UMD games on your Vita, then $10 is really a luxury you can afford, if you are so desperate about playing old games….
I think if the PSP games also benefit from the new Vita network features (cross-game voice chat, party system) then it would be totally worth paying that extra for some of them, if you really like playing them online, for example.
I don’t see why sony just didn’t develop a connection cable for the two units to communicate and transfer data/umd’s? problem solved.
transfer the UMD game from PSP to Vita? it doesn’t work that easily.
