Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid: Rising VGA Trailer to be In-Engine Gameplay, Last 3 Mins

12/10/2011 Written by Sebastian Moss

While most people will likely be tuning in to SpikeTV’s Video Game Awards to see the first gameplay footage of PS3 exclusive The Last of Us, the show is set to reveal a bunch of new games, including one from BioWare, Epic and Tony Hawk. We’ll also get a chance to see a new trailer of Metal Gear Solid: Rising, which has now been confirmed to be in-engine.

VGA producer Geoff Keighley said on Twitter:

Fun #VGAs show fact #1: Kojima’s trailer is all in-engine and gameplay, runs 3 minutes. The rest of the truth comes out tonight.

Kojima previously distanced himself from the project, so isn’t as directly involved in the game as past Metal Gear Solids, but still has an Executive Producer role and is the Vice President of Konami.

The VGAs start later today, at 8PM EST/5PM PST/1AM GMT, and we’ll be liveblogging the show, right here.

I still disagree they called this game “Solid”. How can they call it Solid when now is “lightning bolt action”? I also hope they confirm it’s going to be 2 DVDs on the crapbox (at the very least), or I’m gonna even more skeptical about this one.

    • Haha, funny you should mention the name, look at our latest post xD

wow, just saw it. WTF is that shit? DMC meets Vanquish? That’s not Metal Gear at all, and not just from a gameplay point of view, the whole universe seems twisted. Only the little it’s shown in that trailer just can’t be part of the same world the MGS events take place in. Raiden seems way overpowered, it makes everything in the series seem like child’s play, I know he takes down a number of dumb geckos in MGS4 but this is totally ridiculous. In this game he’s so powerful he could take down the Beauty and Beasts corps all by himself and Liquid Ocelot + Metal Gear Ray thrown in altogether. I don’t think I’m gonna consider this crap “canon”, I really hope Kojima doesn’t…
