Update: We’ve uncovered that Anonymous currently don’t plan to attack the PSN, but rather Sony employees and websites.
With Sony’s online service hacked and brought down earlier in the year by internet activists Anonymous, gamers everywhere suffered from the downtime of the PlayStation Network and its subsequent hack. Unfortunately, if you thought that it was all over, then you’d sadly be wrong – Anonymous seems to have declared war on Sony, again.
TheAnonMessage uploaded the following video on YouTube:
Hello, SONY.
We are Anonymous. It has come to the attention of the Anonymous activist community that you have chosen to stand by the Stop Online Piracy Act. This act will halt online businesses and restrict access to many sites for many users. Supporting SOPA is like trying to throw an entire company from off a bridge. Your support to the act is a signed death warrant to SONY Company and Associates. Therefore, yet again, we have decided to destroy your network. We will dismantle your phantom from the internet. Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.
To those doubting our powers. We’ve infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day.
For their approval to SOPA, we have also declared that our fury be brought upon the following persons. Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift.
Operation Blackout, engaged.
Operation Mayhem, engaged.
Operation LulzXmas, engaged.We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.Supporters of SOPA, you should’ve expected us.
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is the highly controversial bill that, if passed, would give the US government and copyright holders powers to block access to “rogue websites dedicated to infringing or counterfeit goods”. But SOPA has received growing criticism by free speech activists and tech companies like Google and Facebook due to the vague terminology of the bill, which could mean sites like YouTube (or even PSLS) could be blocked for having copyrighted material submitted by users rather than the actual site owners.
With Sony being one of the largest publishers and producers of films, music and games, piracy has severely impacted their profits, and have a vested interest in SOPA being passed. While it’s fair to protest SOPA and any company that supports it, Anonymous’ actions earlier this year showed that the group is willing to let normal consumers suffer from their attacks.
It’s important to note that Anonymous have no central leadership, and this video seems to be the only declaration of war against Sony so far, so it’s hard to tell just how many Anonymous ‘members’ are actually behind the new attack.
PlayStation LifeStyle will keep you updated with further coverage of Anonymous and the threat, as it develops. In the meantime, we must reiterate the importance of ensuring your password on the PSN is different to other sites.
Well, I don’t mind them messinf with Bieber, but I think its time for the US govn to take lethal action…assassin?
When does congress resume to vote on this bill?
Wow, that’s just sad on their part. Shouldn’t they be attacking they old people who know nothing about the Internets and that started the SOPA.
They should be mocking the political system. The old congress men are only puppets with open pockets. Lobbyists, ie big corps came up with this bill and everything therein. Hence the direction against Sony by Anon…
You wanna know why Anonymous is only attacking Sony Computer Entertainment because their not doing this for the internet or to stop SOPA. Their doing it because they heard something about Sony being involved and that’s enough to let them attack Sony.
Nintendo and EA Games are also involved in this but why don’t they get attacked? You’d think if Anonymous was so serious about this then they’d get DDoS attacks too, what are they letting them off with a warning? This seems to me like anonymous taking advantage of a situation to attack an old enemy. You think Anon convinced the Go Daddy website to stop supporting the act. Heck no it was the boycotting from their consumers. Anon will only provoke the people who want this act passed and make them more determined to see it through to the end.
If Sony has truly fixed their security, no one has anything to worry about. I’m actually intrigued to see if they have done what they said they did, ie protect their Consumers information/Online game operations.
You guys obviously have never heard of guilty by association, Sony is corporation with many sister companies and or entities, doesn’t matter which division Anon attacks their message will get across. You really think any other division of Sony which contains and produces any media form (games) don’t want SOPA to pass? Stop being delusional.
You”re all just afraid of losing some Online game time, boohoo.
@EcHo
You seem to miss the point.
Anonymous will attack a company saying that they’re attacking the company. But it’s the customers who will be hurt, not the company. So Anonymous will actually be attacking the customers. Customers who they claim to represent.
Hypocrisy calling?
Holy shit it’s Shadow_Runner.2, made trollier, dumber and more ignorant. No idiot, what I’m saying is that if this was about SOPA then Nintendo, EA Games, Microsoft and Apple would have similar attacks done on them. Live, iTunes, Nintendo Of America and OnLive would all be attacked using DDoS attacks but their not because Anonymous has a vendetta against Sony Computer Entertainment of America.
I couldn’t care less about online. I’ve got tons of single player games to play so not having online for a while puts me out in no way plus Sony just gives out free games and makes Anonymous look like a child who just broke the good china. Plus if anonymous really did go anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE near the DoD they wouldn’t have the time to be doing stuff like this.
the fact they claim to have “…infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day…” should show everyone that they are not out to protect consumers but rather for their own selfish purposes. Did they infiltrate Bank of America in order to teach them a lesson? I doubt it, they probably grabbed a few account numbers to fund their little projects. They are thieves and criminals and the US Gov’t needs to step in and eliminate them.
One more thing…I believe the best thing Sony can do is to essentially ignore them. If they take down the network again, rebuild it, again, rebuild it again…show Anonymous you couldn’t care less what they try to do, you will persevere and those of us who support Sony, like myself, will continue to support their products even if we are without online play for a month or two again. Until Anonymous realizes they have no power because everything they destroy can be rebuilt without detriment to the victim they will continue to harass and attack…it’s just like dealing with a bully, if you can’t defeat them (in this case because it is nearly impossible to figure out who they are) then the only thing you can do is ignore them, they thrive off of the reaction you give them, give them nothing and they will shrivel up and die.
This is an instance where Microsoft and Nintendo should stand up alongside Sony to defend the “Greater Good.” I’m not saying they all need to support this act, but they should show their support for Sony.
They infiltrated those systems in the past and the weaknesses they exploited have been patched. Supposedly. They haven’t regained access.
It’s also notable that they never gained any serious access to any of the systems they mentioned.
I don’t support SOPA by any means, but these idiots are making things 10 times worst for those they say they are fighting for. They need to be stopped now, and permanently. Next thing you know they will be trying out the events of Escape From L.A. in the name of the people.
They employ the cheesiest writers I have ever seen. Its not threatening, it is embarrassing.
Sony music entertainment supports SOPA not Sony computer entertainment. This Anonymous people must have mental issues
This would take thought, consideration, reason, logic. Children crying that they want more attention do not have these values.
Sony this. Sony that. It’s all Japanese people trying to take American jobs. Isn’t it?
/sarcasm
I too do not support SOPA or the methods anonymous uses but you guys are right, as long as we can play with our playstations who cares about free speech and corporate government. I’m not a troll but after reading these comments (which are free speech) that is the impression I get. Somebody has to take a stand somewhere at sometime, I don’t know if this is the answer but SOPA sounds pretty scary to me.
Foolishness. These people are criminals and hypocrites. They are whining about what SOPA would do to business yet THEY are doing the same thing every time they attack people online.
You seem to have made the same mistake as Anonymous. This law only affects Americans. It’s not the end of the world. In fact, what SOPA attempts to obtain has already been struck down in Britain.
The way I see it, these “activists” need to be found and thrown in prison for 30+ years, they claim to have hacked some serious government networks. Even if they didnt do anything beyond that, it should be considered a threat to national security, they could have gained access to potentially very sensitive information. Im tired of reading about these anonymous fuck heads, they need to get a life and stop screwing with innocent people. Hacking a service that 20+ million people love to use, and enjoy on a daily basis is just pathetic and sad. Get a life anonymous faggots, get a real job, and stop fucking with Sony, or anything else.
Why dont they go after the banking institutions and those millionaire, billionaire scumbags who aided in the biggest decline in out economy since 1929, go after those fuks who reaped millions upon millions of dollars, double digit bonuses and more shorting the stocks, they were backing etc… go aftet THEM for Christ’s sake.. hack THEIR accounts, take their MILLIONS and donate em to EVERYTHING and ANYTHING, take THEIR MONEY, Not ours you dumb pieces of shit…
And dont give me that it’s denying them FREE SPEECH bullshit either, copying a legit company’s website, word for word, image for image , shopping cart for shopping cart, was on CNN and FOX, that it is part of copywrite infringemen…oh btw, what do ALL those “fake/spoofing sites actually do?
All those BOGUS FAKE ASS WEB SITES ARE DESIGNED to STEAL YOUR INFO, YOUR CREDIT CARDS AND SOME JUST LOVE STEALING IDENTITIES.
I thought these morons were finally gone… I may not support SOPA in any form, but jesus these guys are just humiliating to humanity. Nothing but self-glrofied children who do nothing but dream of creating a name for themselves. If they were truly capable of anything productive then they should actually target groups that deserve it, however, I think they simply prefer beating a dead horse instead of challenging themselves with important targets… -_
To begin with it’s Sony Music Entertainment who make a living using Simon Cowell to milk the music industry so attacking SCE won’t actually have an impact on them in fact actually Anonymous if anything your helping them, right now some Sony business executive is pulling up your little death threat and telling he’s senior managers how you plan to attack Sony again. Congrats you just helped the SOPA act get through. I hope your pleased with yourself.
Secondly, EA Games and Nintendo are involved in this. Two games companies directly involved with the SOPA act, whoops I forgot their not Sony. Seriously this is not about SOPA it’s about Anonymous getting another chance to attack Sony and making themself look like heroes and after all the crap with Lybia it’s a shame because you guys actually could be.
Finally those people you’ve named? Their innocent in all this. I know most likely nobody from anon is reading this but do you really think those guys are going against Sony? REALLY?! Because if you do you must be more nuts then I thought. Sony won’t take crap from any of the people on their contracts. Sony World music group are proberbly big enough to make sure any musican who as much as hints at not liking this is friggen screwed. So what you’ve done is thrown them into a catch 22. Face what Sony WMG has planned or whatever you guys have planned.
Basically I know the SOPA act is wrong but Anonymous is attacking the wrong division of Sony and their actions will only influence the people who make the decisions that will put this act in place into supporting it. They won’t see a bunch of guys defending the internet from what is surely the most insulting law/act or rule ever created, instead they’ll just see the people they’ve created the law to stop. They’ll see this as a sign that they are right, that they need these laws. Like I said it’s not a clever move and the perfect way to take down SOPA is by voting with our wallets and when I say our wallets I don’t mean taking their money. Don’t buy their services. Sony wants our trust so let’s show them that we no longer trust them.
The same with EA Games and Nintendo. If they want our money they have to learn we won’t take this treatment but not with boycotts or hacks or whatever Operation Blackout is but through simply not buying their products, not using their services, not trusting them. Saying if you want my trust then I’ll need a sign that you trust me back and SOPA is a 100% sign that they view us the common gamers as thiefs who will steal from them and the instant their back is turned.
I AM TIMEWARP
SOMETIMES FUNNYDUDE6556
I WILL NOT FORGET (Within reason, I got to do other things)
I WILL NOT TRUST (Sony, Nintendo, EA Games and Activision, you other guys are safe…for now)
(P.S – I got a PS3. Is it cool if I still use that? Really? Even though I don’t trust you? You mean Anon stopped because writing this bit makes me look stu-oh…I see)
Just another little note here am I the only one confused as to why Anonymous is attacking Sony yet we’re the ones who are obviously going to get attacked here? Like we’re actually going to side with the people hacking our accounts and stealing from us. In fact if anyone wants I think I’ll just sit in my own little faction if anyone wants to join, I don’t think I like either side.
F**K YOU Anonymous & DIE! ! !:-/ There you go i said it:D
Microsoft and Apple support SOPA too, so why not go after Live and iTunes?
http://venturebeat.com/2011/11/18/apple-microsoft-sopa-support/
Starting to look like more of a personal vendetta against Sony than any genuine support/disapproval of any particular issue.
Is this true? To me it was hilarious to hear all that. I couldn’t care less what they do or intent to do. Even if they take down the PSN again or whatever, I could use the time for some offline play. Buch of little kids crying out loud for attention.. this is majorly SAD more than anything..
Are we expecting a comeback of the great supporter ShadowRunner? :O
I am ShadowRunner!
I am not alone, despite my bad smell and everyone avoiding me.
I do not forgive, not even the pizza dude who only gave me 21 pepperonis when I expressly said 22!
I do not forget, well I forget my password alot but that doesn’t count!
Expect me???
stop the guy’s like bettlejuice if we say he’s name too many times he’ll show up!
The sad thing is, this is probably in part because of people like them. So yes, trying to bring people down for not wanting you to STEAL is a good thing. Fucktards.
The dumbest argument I’ve ever heard.
What? You not bringing DLC to PC? Well, you know by not doing that you’re forcing me to hack your video game.
Well… i have to support them on this one! USA’s goverment have become what German was whit hitler
You’re an idiot.
I second that.
Thirded. Is that a word? Oh well.
Fourthded! No? Okay
*crawls back into hole*
You know that i wrote that “a little bigger than it is” but for a country lika US, trying to put a censorship over the internet is stupid in so many mays and for the country “Freespeech” it’s even more ironic. No one can deny that US is becoming more and more like German under WW II
PS: not my first language
Yes because the US Government is rounding up Jews and dissenters and throwing them on concentration camps.
/
Again, YOU’RE AN IDIOT!
is that the only thing you know from world war 2?
But now when you said it, they have killed about 1-2 million civilians in Irak the only diffrent is that US say something “nice” about why they are doing it instead of just saying the truth that they only think about them self and that they will kill civilians gladly for oil!
@BubbeZ, I understand where you are coming from in terms of the Iraq war, but your numbers are way over exaggerated. Here are the real numbers of civilian dead:
104,479 – 114,144
(according to http://www.iraqbodycount.org/database/)
this isn’t to say that it isn’t a lot. Considering less than 5,000 American soldiers died, those are staggering numbers. But when compared to the over 4 million Jews that died during WWII, it is considerably less.
Same old tired lies from the same old anti-American nitwits like yourself. It’s amazing how stupid you people can be.
Look it up moron. The actual number of civilian casualties from 2003 to 2009 is reported by numerous sources as being between 100,000 to 150,000 a great majority of which were killed by insurgents. NOT US military.
But it won’t matter to you. Facts don’t matter to lunatic anti-American numbskull fanatics like yourself.
Well i liked america before but the last year when i HAVE looked the facts up and it often you read in newspapers about thing US have coverd up…
@Jawknee1 Where the fuck is this attack coming from? I only posted what I read. No bias. No opinion twisting views. I never said who the attacks came from, I just said how many civilian dead there were.
Oh, and:
“Look it up moron. The actual number of civilian casualties from 2003 to 2009 is reported by numerous sources as being between 100,000 to 150,000…”
Did you not just basically repeat what I said?
I said:
“Here are the real numbers of civilian dead:
104,479 – 114,144″
I even said his numbers were over exaggerated. But I doubt you read that. So next time, read carefully before you start calling people anti-American, morons, and numbskulls… Prick. And who the fuck are you calling a fanatic?
I need to read more carefully? I wasn’t even talking to you! Pay more attention next time! I was talking to the moron who compared the US with Nazi Germany!
Seriously, how he hell did you miss that? YOU pay more attention before YOU start calling people pricks jackass!
you people are angry…. And thats why it’s so funny to make you angry….
@Jawknee1 Oh, I see. That was my bad, but you replied right under me, and you were using plural, so I had no choice but to assume you were referring to me aswell. And you basically repeated what I said. If we replied to him at the same time then that’s understandable, but we didn’t.
I replied under Bubblez, not you. All of my comments were directed towards him, not you. Take a look at this thread again. In sorry I called of a jackass.
@Bubblez, yes it makes me angry when a holes like you slander my country by comparing us to Nazi’s. You’re a too have zero understanding of history or facts.
SOPA is dangerous and I’m glad someone is doing something about it, even if it is being done the wrong way. If Anonymous didn’t bother with this attack, then what would happen with the bill? It would pass and all of you know that it will pass. The movie and music industries are lining the pockets of all the political fat cats in the government, most of whom don’t have a clue what the internet is, or what it is used for. They just know there are briefcases full of money heading their way and as long as it doesn’t impact their collection of Elvis albums at home they don’t give a flying fuck. Anyone that thinks the U.S. government is not going to pass this bill is delusional. The U.S. government has been trying to figure out how to control the internet since the day it was born, and SOPA is just one step to doing that. A bad bill with vague wording that can be interpreted a million different ways. Shit, I’m Canadian and even I’m sickened by this bill. If Anonymous hacking Sony (again) is the only way to get those dumb shits in the government to listen then have at it Anonymous. I don’t like it, but I don’t see protesting in the street stopping this ridiculous crap. Joe Public isn’t even aware of this bill, it’s just people like us (internet/forum users) that even have a clue about it.
@Anonymous – Please proceed, but next time could you please widen your target area? Aiming at Sony all the time, or what seems like all the time, makes you look like you’re just bullying the same kid in the playground over and over. There are many corporate fish in the SOPA sea.
Thank you for your time. Glad we got rid of those thumbs down things because I’m sure I’m about to get a slew of them.
You do know that there were things being done against SOPA already right? Like the boycotting of GoDaddy until it stopped supporting SOPA?
But that would get in your way of your dystopia bullshit.
I don’t understand how the boycotting of one domain name provider will do anything. Please elaborate. I’m being serious.
because Go Daddy like any website makes use of advertising to run their severs and their website, the more people that visit their site the most likely they’ll get bigger advertisers and through that more money for which to run their site, make it better. Also I could be wrong but I think Go Daddy also sells products on their site, so a boycott means their regulars are no longer buying from them and their advertisers may lose Interest in the site if they think not as many people are viewing the site as before. Go Daddy obviously couldn’t afford to lose that money. That’s why it works.
If anonymous got people boycotting Sony’s PSN, OnLive, Live and Wiiware then Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and EA Games wouldn’t be able to support this act.
Thanks Timewarp. I understand how a boycott works, I just don’t understand how a boycott against Go Daddy is supposed to work. To me, it’s like boycotting Exxon. Sure Exxon takes a hit, but all the other fuel stations benefit from it. Go Daddy is a big company, but if they weren’t around someone else would just take their place.
I understand you don’t bring a gun to a gun protest, but honestly does anyone else have any idea what to do? Write a letter to your politician? Start a petition? C’mon, HUGE dollars are being thrown at this bill, and little shit like letter writing and petitions are not going to cut it.
If this bill passes it will change the internet forever. It’s a bad bill, I think we can all agree on this. Right?
Thanks Timewarp. I understand how a boycott works, I just don’t understand how a boycott against Go Daddy is supposed to work. To me, it’s like boycotting Exxon. Sure Exxon takes a hit, but all the other fuel stations benefit from it. Go Daddy is a big company, but if they weren’t around someone else would just take their place.

Well I’m sorry if I seemed patronising, clearly you got that tone from my post and I’m sorry for that and yes I agree that it’s a bad bill and I really do not want this to pass but honestly at this point I have no idea how we’re going to stop it, have you seen the supporters? Go daddy are pilot fish compared to some of the guys on this list. I think perhaps if we were to show these guys like Disney and CBS what it’s like to be on the other side of a copyright infringement lawsuit then it could work although they’d get their legions of laywers, perhaps if we found a claus free way of trapping them into it then they’d realise their websites are at the mercy of SOPA as well.
That’s the problem with being vague if I recall it means we can also have their sites closed down for the same reasons given they have copyright material on there. (I may have gotten this wrong, correct me if I have)
You do realize that all Anon is doing is giving the people saying ‘We need this thing now’ more and more ammo to convince the fence sitters that hackers are evil and need to be hunted down? Since when has protesting a law by doing the very thing the law is against been a good idea? Kinda like protesting an anti-gun law by buying/stealing a gun and shooting into the sky in front of the town hall.
Actually…you’re wrong. I don’t know what they are showing up there in Canada, but SOPA has been all over the news and there has been a huge public backlash towards it. I’m not saying if it will pass or not, but it has been everywhere. I know people who barely know how to use the internet who have heard all about it..not just a bunch of nerds like me.
Thanks Jimmy. This is extremely refreshing to hear. They are covering SOPA on the news up here, but obviously it’s not a hot topic or at the top of the news. My fear was that it wasn’t being covered in the U.S.A. either. Maybe there is hope. I’ve been disappointed so frequently in government I’m starting to sound like my old man. He was such a crusty bastard, but all his grumblings ended up TRUE!
I agree. I support them with this initiative as well.
Congress should stop wasting their time with SOPA and figure out how to nail every last one of these POS.
I say we start a crusade against the assholes. Put a bullet in every single Anon we find.
They don’t deserve death. They do deserve jail time.
They must work for Microsoft, lol
Dear Sony.
Notably we haven’t learned our lesson about being dupes from last time. However we’ve noticed that you are supporting SOPA. A law that has little effect upon much of the world and has no precedence anywhere. As such we’ll be attacking your networks again in order to ruin the enjoyment of your clientele.
Please remember we do this for the good of the people. At least the good of the people who don’t use Sony services in any online capacity. If you don’t believe we can do it then remember we have infiltrated such organizations as the CIA’s public system, Lockheed’s non-critical, non-confidential e-mail system, and the Bank of America when we gave Wiki-leaks those emails. Please ignore the fact that Wiki-leaks never did anything with the bank information and neither the CIA’s or Lockheed’s critical systems were ever effected or touched.
We’ll also be attacking Justin Beiber in the hopes that people will support us more than last time. We will also include Lady Gaga for free. You’re welcome.
Operation “We Don’t Understand The Concept of Military Operation Names”: Commenced
We are Anonymous
We are less than we’d like you to believe.
We do not forgive
We often forget
Expect lameness.
What this means for the public is: Stock Up On PSN Titles, Update Every Singleplayer Game You Think You’ll Play & Get Ready For The shhhstorm!
Please forgive my lack of articulation, but these guys are such a pile of -losers-. I feel embarrased for them for writing that shite. Personally my favorite line was ”We will dismantle your phantom from the internet” hahaha what???.
I see so many comments i would love to reply to so i will just address everyone here by saying i am a huge ps3 gamer but you guys need to turn the games off for minute and realise we are in the middle of a global revolution and our government is making an attack on their own citizens right now.
Following the SOPA bill was an NDAA bill that gives our government the right to imprison U.S. citizens indefinitely without charge or trial and in the constitution that is high treason committed by our so called leaders which now labels them as domestic enemies.
RISE UP UP PEOPLE!!!
P.S. For all the people that feel the actions being taken are just making matters worse or taking away more of our freedom should be proof enough revolution is a must…..we are not supposed to fear our government….THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FEAR US!!!
Just because one bill goes through does not mean the other will as well. And look at it this way. At least if you kill someone you can hide out in Brazil. Canada doesn’t need extradition treaties. By law an RCMP officer is allowed to go anywhere to catch you. There’s literally no where you can hide.
I actually find this pretty fucking hilarious. These guys are priceless. The only reason I wouldn’t want them taken down is for heir entertainment value.
First of all:
“We will dismantle your phantom from the internet.”
What the hell do they mean by that? Th only thing I can think of that would even resemble a phantom is maybe an info. Cloud, which unless Ive been in a coma for the past 6 months, hasn’t happened yet.
Secondly:
“Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.”
The “justice” they speak of obviously isn’t for the people they are inevitably going to inconvenience? And if it isn’t for the people, then who is it for? Exactly. And what the fuck was the first warning. Was it the first breach? If so, then Anon, you’ve either invented a new meaning for the word “warning” or you’re complete idiots.
Also:
“To those doubting our powers. We’ve infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day.”
This is when I started laughing. It is highly unlikely that a bunch of nerdy outcasts living in their mom’s basements took down portions of governments. Even if they have, they would’ve been taken down IMMEDIATELY. I’ve met people that work for Big Brother, and they don’t fuck around.
Finally:
“For their approval to SOPA, we have also declared that our fury be brought upon the following persons. Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift.”
Seriously? Out of all of the highly sophisticated and intelligent celebrities out there, including Bill Gates, you chose them? I mean Lady Gaga? What were you smoking when you made that decision? Must’ve been some strong stuff.
And my personal favorite:
“Operation Blackout, engaged.
Operation Mayhem, engaged.
Operation LulzXmas, engaged.”
Very, very good Anonymous. We all applaud your very generous works. Couldn’t have come up with better operation names myself.
My first thought when they said Bank of America was … “Who hasn’t?”
I have never wanted the thumb up system back to thumb up a comment more then this moment right now…
Are you an idiot?
Obviously you can’t read.
I actually find this pretty fucking hilarious. These guys are priceless. The only reason I wouldn’t want them taken down is for heir entertainment value.
First of all:
“We will dismantle your phantom from the internet.”
Merely illusory power is what they mean by that.
They are insulting them and telling them that they will put them down at the same time.
Secondly:
“Prepare to be extinguished. Justice will be swift, and it will be for the people, whether some like it or not. Sony, you have been warned.”
Justice being for the people because by the US Government passing SOPA, they take away your freedom to learn. “Whether some like it or not” because those who user Sony’s networks will be unable to access them. Many artists produced a song in support of megaupload after it was shut down to raise awareness to the people. Youtube was forced to take the song down because Universal Media Group claimed it violated their copyrights. But, it did not violate their copyrights.
Also:
“To those doubting our powers. We’ve infiltrated the servers of Bank of America, The United States Department of Defense, The United Nations, and Lockheed Martin. In one day.”
Honestly I can not reply on this one because my knowledge isn’t in this. This could have been a fake for all I know.
Finally:
“For their approval to SOPA, we have also declared that our fury be brought upon the following persons. Justin Bieber. Lady Gaga. Kim Kardashian. and Taylor Swift.”
You’re an idiot for not reading.
FOR THEIR APPROVAL TO SOPA.
They chose them because they follow in with the SOPA..
And my personal favorite:
“Operation Blackout, engaged.
Operation Mayhem, engaged.
Operation LulzXmas, engaged.”
What the hell does names have to do with their intelligence?
I’m sure there’s a reason behind everyone.
come@metroll
I thought everyone was over the OtherOS and Geohot BS, but I guess not. It’s old news. Done. Time to move on.
If they are targeting Sony, they better target Nintendo, EA, Disney, etc. who are also behind SOPA. Fair is fair, right?
Haha yeah, I’m shaking in my boots. Everyone knows that Redditors have replaced Anonymous as the scrotum of the internet anyway
haha, I agree. Fuck reddit, also anonymous has become nothing but abunch retard edgy 13 year olds from /b/ who think they are sooo leet just because they can ddos a web site
Anonymous… get a fucking life
These guys . . . . . need to fucking stop. I hate SOPA . . . but I hated the month I couldn’t play my games. The month where I checked my bank balance every day to make sure nobody fucked with it. If they didn’t do that, someone they know probably did. This whole “we are legion” bullshit is completely retarded. You’re not some super secret vigilante group. You are doing NOTHING to help the world. If I ever meet someone who admits to being an ‘anon hacker’ or if I see a boycott / protest where they’re wearing their stupid ass masks . . . I will kill that person or persons on sight.
Well…I mean….just hire Walter White. He’ll take care of him! Haha. Sorry….inappropriate. But I just finished the fourth season and that guy’s a BAMF! He’s a total douche now though….BUT STILL, TOTAL BAMF!!!
After reading some of this crap all I have to say it, “No Donny. These men are cowards.”
These guys seriously need something better to do.
FUCK EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS SOPA!!! and if anonymous can help prevent it I say GO FOR IT!!
I hope for Sony’s sake that they stop their support of SOPA so that PSN can stay online, but i will gladly sacrifice PSN for the cause!
http://wh.gov/DfY
and if any of the people opposing SOPA are of the girl variaty then I support SOPA
That is terrorism. Go ahead waste a precious back door on something that isnt ultimately that important.
Sony and Nintendo just want to protect the intellectual property of their games. We just have to look at Nintendo’s lawsuit against compagnies in Europe that were producing DS empty games to be able to hack their games, they lost billions because of this.
microsoft says they support hacking, but at the same time, people were hacking their xbox 360 to gain access to xbox live for free, they banned thoses xbox 360 permanently from live that they couldn’t access live ever, and all of their purchased downloadable content were unaccessible and token from them. And when people were hacking disc based games, they banned their xbox 360 from xbox live, so they could only hack offline games.
You know, there’s a word for that kind of behavior, but it’s illegal to publish.
Basically, microsoft takes the hacking community for idiots, more specifically xbox.
All compagnies have the same goal.
They all have the same claims, we support hacking, with a small thing in the fine print, As long as we continue to make money.
the major problem about about this bill is that is such a blur, we don’t know where it starts and were it ends.
I’m completly against this bill if it’s another American Partriots act, where they shove the media with the crap they want you to believe. It’s like saying, it’s ok to launch a nuclear bomb against “name your NATO country” because we are heroes and they are the bad guys.
We live in a free sociaty and are free to express our opinions about everything and know the awful truth of what really happens in the world, corruption, war, etc. Bassically, the news are controlled by the goverment.
With the bush administration, it was a good thing for multi-national banks to seize the house of, well, virtually everyone, millions lost their homes, what does bush do? Gives billions of dollar of honest tax payers money to thoses greedy banks to clear their so-called dept when they own millions of houses who have monetary value and not a dime was given to thoses who’s houses were taken away.
That’s major BS, wich officially has been renamed BU-SH.
I doupt Sony even knew everything that this bill might pottentially involve, hell, no one knows the details of where it starts and ends.
It’s ok to preserve intellectual property, but beyond that it’s total crap, it could lead to sites like wikileaks to close down so that we don’t get to know the awfulness of their corruption. I get it’s a war, but you wouldn’t even treat an abandonned dog like that.
Hacking can be a good thing if used properly, like to enhance platforms, give new program, etc.
Microsoft’s open platform stopped at XP, trying to put a stop to viruses and stuff, but they just kept multipling, hell, doubled the amount of viruses in 2007 to 2008 in one year than the last 20 years combined, the same time Vista was released. Bassically, we lost alot of good hand-made programs to gain a ton of viruses…
Anyway, some hacks can be great and useful when used properly, they have no right over that.
I think Gabe Newell was completly right when he said that hacking is the result of not giving the consumer the right kind of service we want, people don’t see what they want in certain things like the PSN and hacking seems like the best kind of method. The only problem with hacking is that not everyone involved are doing it for the right reasons.
Really both sides are wrong for the same reasons. Anonymous and the hacking community can’t see how the freedom of information can lead to piracy yet Sony and the gaming companies can’t see how SOPA will lead to a lot of people abusing the act to as you said take down sites like Wikileaks to stop us from knowing about how corrupt certain goverments are. Piracy is just wrong but so is taking away certain freedoms in order to ensure we get rid of the piracy
Sorry to quote but in the parapharsed words of Benjamin Franklin “Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both” I think this shows excactly how I feel about the SOPA act and Piracy as a whole.
I think Anonymous made an extremely dump move in announcing their treat.
Seriously, what were they thinking!?
The goverment won’t feel treated by this case, in any case it would only give an additonal reason to push he bill foward!
Now hey got a good reason to pass those bill to “protect” themselves from the “evil” anonymous making threats… not saying they are evil, but they will make it a convicing argument to make it look so…
In any case, I couldn’t care less about lady gaga and kim, but Justin and Taylor!?
Why go and targets kids? It’s not really better that when they said they were hacking Sony because they sued a minor, it’s exactly alike. Seriously, you should preach by example. Now the bill might just include jail sentences for kids… to be place along side serious criminal and pedophile s
Beyond the urge to turn into a member of the Third Reich Grammar squad. What’s the point of requiring three posts to say something? Couldn’t you just break it down into more intelligible portions and leave it in one post?
Also, just because you don’t know where it stops and starts doesn’t mean others don’t.
why does it seem like anon is probably funded by microspoof? they never seem to attack microspoof in anyway – even though they are also supporting SOPA!
all that aside, the internet has become a sort of haven for pirates and thieves. in fact you can get almost anything for free (as a download). most of us have downloaded free stuff – be it pdf., mp3, avi etc. we have all enjoyed the “freeness” that the internet provides.
well on the other side of that – we have the companies that are constantly losing $$ because of this very practise. internet trolls have been leaking movies. magazines, music and almost anything they can get thier hands on to be the “cool guy” online for their buddies. well, many businesses/studios/companies have gone under, and in these hard times companies are trying to do what ever they can to protect their products. even television has suffered because of piracy, hence the reason we have so many silly “reality” shows on all the networks. it has become too expensive to take chances on “new” shows and pay proper actors/actresses. many shows have been cancelled without even getting a proper run on tv. basically what i’m trying to say is that the losses all trickle down the ladder. in the end we end up with garbage that’s “popular” and trendy but it may not necessarily be the best ( eg kardashians). anon are troll tools. all they really want is $$. behind all their hacking they always steal credit card info to sell on the black market. what they really NEED is a SEVERE BEATDOWN. some serious man-handling. good old fashioned thrashing. maybe getting their grills rearranged may change their immature outlook on life.
You are right about everything.
The only people that “benefits” from thoses threats to Sony is Microsoft.
Now they can spread the “fear” not to buy a playstation or enjoy what most people call “free gaming”.
They don’t really seemed to get the significance of their treats and action, nor the collateral damage this might have upon other free internet services,
Another “successfull” intrusion to the psn won’t just affect Sony and Playstation, but other companies will go with anti-piracy companies and then make the customers pay for the cost of their internet moderation, bringing an end to free online gaming.
Of course, Microsoft must be trilled about this… since they only make a small 2 billion dollars per semester just in xbox live subscription!
It doesn’t cost 2 billion to moderate online gaming…
In any case, like every laws that has been made, everyone gets to pay because of an handful of people. And it won’t stop at free online gaming.
Remember unlimited download? Some company still have it, others have put caps because of the “abuse” of downloading too much stuff and it was overloading their servers. Now, those companies have download caps, download more and your bill goes WAY up.
Hack away. I’m using PSN cards since the May Fiasco.
Few other things might happen afterwards.
For one, they may completly design the internet and it’s usage, making surfing on the internet un”anymous”. Hell, it’s already like that with internet publicity.
Marketing firms can get access to sites you surfed on the internet and market potential material you might be interested in. From their few, they can target the right client for the right product, but it’s really annoying and frustrating that tons of people can know exactly what you are doing on the internet.
The gouverment of Canada has initiated a bill to ban that type of marketing because of privacy of their citizens. Haven’t heard anything here in America, if they are willing to ban this sort of practice by “number” companies.
Yes but Canada is also putting a bill through that could possibly make it completely illegal to break a digital lock for any purpose and companies will be able to put DRM on anything. Provided that’s how you read the bill.
It likely will still allow fair use along what’s allowed now but you can interpret it differently.
RD2 FIGHT!
Mortal Kombat!!!

Sony, EA, and Nintendo have reportedly dropped their support of SOPA. http://www.businessinsider.com/the-largest-game-companies-in-the-world-have-dropped-their-support-for-a-bill-the-internet-hates-2011-12
Most of you are acting foolish.
I for one stand behind Anonymous.
Anonymous did not tamper with anything, simply showed their power.
They are trying to save something that the US government is trying to destroy.
And what are you doing? Talking shit.
Come at me, trolls.
Not trying to be mean or anything, but you are talking shit about the other people talking shit. They are expressing their opinions just like you are. You’re calling people foolish and trolls just because they don’t agree with Anon’s intentions? Hehe…that’s straight trollin’ to me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qI0RoJz7Tno
Ah, now I see why you called me an idiot and a troll. Because you are siding with them. First of all, since when is inconveniencing thousands or more users “showing your power”? That’s like me taking a piss off of the Empire State building and saying I was “making sure my bladder still worked”. My point is there are other methods that they could have used to get their point across. At this point it seems like they are going out of their way to attack Sony, when there are other companies (Microsoft, Nintendo, Disney, etc.) that actually support this, not just them. Second, since when is people voicing their opinions “talking shit”? Most of the people on here are only saying that what Anonymousvis doing is wrong (in their opinion). You don’t see anyone on here attacking you for yours. And you seem to use the term “troll” very loosely. If anyone on here is being a troll, it is you.
why would we touch him? i don’t play with or put my hands on shit. @supamanisfly – just ignore the internet trolls and the keyboard warriors man, they’re not worth it. they can’t step up to someone and act like they do when they’re on a PC. let him enjoy his little typing fit. Anons are tools just like he is. it seems like it’s the new fad these days – being a tool. sometimes i wish could be a tool like that… but sadly i took an arrow to the knee….awww
Bunch of computer hacking nerds real good ones man i just wish i can run into these guys somewhere where eva the fuck they are and beat there fucking ass but hate people who hide behind computers-hackers
I think the goverment is busy trying to calm down other countries so that they don’t get any potential terrorist attacks from countries like Iran and North Korea
Unfortunatly, Anonymous’ treats may just be like dust placed under the rug, no one may notice it.
Anonymous, if you want your message to be heard, why don’t you hack during a live presidential campaign and tell the world just what kind of bill they want to shove down our throats.
It will get media attention. I’m just saying…
