Over 600 People Involved in Resident Evil 6 Development, Capcom’s Biggest Production Ever

01/25/2012 Written by Sebastian Moss

Recently revealed Resident Evil 6 is the largest production ever undertaken by publisher Capcom, according to the title’s executive producer.

Hiroyuki Kobayashi revealed on an introduction video about the announcement trailer that over 600 people are involved in the production of RE6, 150 of whom are at Capcom’s headquarters in Japan:

Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said that RE6 “not only has a larger world and deeper experience than you have played before but we are excited to say it is a blend of action and survival horror – something we like to call ‘dramatic horror’.”

Director Eiichiro Sasaki added that the story is “intricately designed” and has “intense drama, realism and surprising plot twists.”

Before RE6, which is out this November, Capcom’s largest project was the upcoming adventure game Dragon’s Dogma.

It takes 600 people to make this beautiful looking game with 3 separate Campaigns/Characters Story lines, possibly new mercenaries and a rumor about 6 player coop.
It takes 500 people to make COD game with same graphics, same gameplay and same multiplayer.
Anyone see whats wrong with this ?

well I guess Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
personally when I watched the trailer, I was excited because the graphics and models looked more like PSVita than PS3 and Xbox360 (compared to RE5, they’re worse, graphically looks more like an early MGS4 trailer). when I saw the Xbox360 logo at the end (the version I saw had the Xbox360 logo) I blurted out, “…..wow” out of disappointment in Capcom.

Only reason I can see for the lower quality character models is there will be more on screen, and more are actual playable character.

I don’t know if you saw a low quality video or what but I absolutely do not agree that this looks like a step back, graphically, from RE5.

…all I want to know is will I finally be able to play a Resident Evil game while being able to move and shoot at the same time??

  2. Id like to know where this game is in the timeline and how re4 and re5s story connects into this.

This more branches off from RE4 and RE degeneration (the CGI film which takes place after RE4 and most likely where they got the idea to make leon look like he does now) due to the president and his daughter. You can say RE5 was “sort of” a filler even though it was a continuation of RE4. RE5 is just straight action and pretty much just shows how chris went through something similar like leon, only the settings in Africa. Chris’s story wasn’t really major only the defeat of wesker was and who knows if he’ll turn up in RE6. Leon is more the one with the main story and thats why i say this more branches off from RE4.

      • Unless re5 pretty much takes place furring e same time frame as re4 because you find a few things that references the village and the virus their and the villagers. And the story from the bssa(sp?) seems to extend into re6.

I think it’s safe to say that this game will not be a copy/paste RE5 with zombies. That’s great.

  4. Does anyone else think the ’6′ logo looks like a giraffe receiving fellatio? I had it pointed out to me, and it can’t be unseen!

In software developement, more people doesn’t necessarily mean better:

But eh, making games involve many different roles. So I may be wrong.

Dramatic Horror? What the hell is Undramatic horror? Don’t most people expect horror games, movies to be dramatic.
