Update:
The patch is now live in the US.
Original story:
The Bethesda Blog has announced this morning that the 1.4 patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available for the Xbox 360 users in all territories and PS3 users in the European territories. US users will have to wait until “later today” before the patch is made available.
Bethesda also states that “strange in-game behavior” is normal post-patch as “…this is a normal function of the script backlog temporarily correcting itself.” We’ll keep an eye on the original blog post and be sure to update you all when the patch is available for US users.
The Skyrim 1.4 patch contains a lengthy list of fixes including several performance and memory enhancements specifically for the PS3 version of the game. Bethesda stated on Monday that the patch had been submitted for console certification after a lengthy beta testing phase concluded.
To our European users, has the patch fixed some of the issues that you’ve been having or is the difference negligible? To our US users, are you excited for the patch or does this come too little, too late?
I sold my 360 a week or 2 ago and i’m praying this fixes the framerate issues so I can jump back on board with the PS3 version, hopefully some good feedback comes along today.
I have about 15 hours on both 360 and ps3 versions. I wanna continue on ps3, so hopefully this patch will help out with the lag and framerate problems.
If not, I guess I have to continue my 360 save on PC. Don’t let us down Bethesda…
I know it varies, but I’m surprised you had issues that early on. I was at about 55 hours before I had any lag issues; the only thing I had before then was that it froze twice.
I did a quest where I had to go into a stone (I think) and when I fight the boss, the framerate literally went like a moving picture.
Now that the patch is live, I’m gonna give it another try hopefully the framerate will be stable.
“strange in-game behavior” is normal post-patch as “…this is a normal function of the script backlog temporarily correcting itself.”
I want everyone to focus on this line…let’s see if we can go the first day after the patch without seeing a million complaints about it making things even worse. After that if things are still really bad go ahead and complain all you want.
I can’t wait! I really REALLY miss playing Skyrim. Despite my enthusiasm, I will remain cautions and observe other PS3 gamers who have adopted the patch. Mine has been freezing and glitching out since the second patch, and some quests (Thieves Guild) are unplayable. I must admit, this is an ambitions patch. I’m glad they didn’t neglect us and took their time on this one.
Hell yeah, thank you Bethesda!
Why are people calling this patch 1.4, the version number is 2.03
before it was released people just called it 1.4 because the last one was 1.3. Obviously Bethesda feels they made enough changes to make the leap to 2.03
So I downloaded it. So far it’s running more smoothly and my file size has shrunk as well. Unfortunately, I still can’t start the quest for the Thieves Guild (Dampened Spirits).
remember it may take awhile for everything to work itself out…hopefully your quest will eventually work
I hope so.
I really miss playing this game, and I would hate to make a second account just to experience the Thieves Guild quests. However, I waited nearly 2 months for this patch, so I could wait a little longer to see if things will work out. Either way … at least the lag issue seems fixed.
If I can now lose 60lbs of quest items, and 3 Red Eagle Furys for no reason.
PRAISE WILL BE TO TALOS!!!
