Activision Unsurprisingly Confirms New Call of Duty for 2012

This just in, the sky is blue… oh yeah and Activision plans to release another Call of Duty title by year’s end. Activision made the announcement during the company’s quarterly earnings call.

Considering each entry in the series continues to break sales records, there’s little reason to believe that the publisher would play around with their magical money-making formula all that much. While nothing has been confirmed regarding who will be developing the game, it’s fair to assume that Treyarch will be at the helm, seeing as how they’ve been shelling out an entry every other year for Activision since the start of this generation.

Actitvision was also tight-lipped on what the new entry would be called, though past rumors would suggest that Black Ops 2 would be a fair bet. Since a Modern Warfare title released last year and Treyarch has been hands-off with that particular line of CoD titles, it’s fair to assume we’ll have to wait until 2013 to get another game set in that universe.
