There’s absolutely no doubt who the big kid on the block is, as the mega-publisher Activision-Blizzard flexes its muscles with $1.1 billion in annual profits. This makes for net profits that more than double what they did last year.
When looking at 2011, the company raked inĀ $4.76 billion, which boasts an annual increase when compared to the prior year’s $4.45 billion in revenue. What is even more shocking is net profits, which more than doubled from $418 million in 2010 to over $1.08 billion in 2011.
Activision-Blizzard also did incredibly well in the digital space with $1.6 billion in sales, making up approximately 34% of the company’s total sales.
With juggernaut franchises like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, it should come as no surprise that the company is doing quite well for itself. And with Diablo III, a new Call of Duty and many others set release later this year, there’s little reason to believe that their streak of success will run out any time soon.

I’ve given up on their companies, games are all the same crap over and over again.
Last I checked, Activision IS only CoD and WoW. Sure the occasional other game, like Starcraft and the upcoming Diablo 3, but honestly, what else do they do?
CoD DLC
I’ve long feared that Blizzard would get infected with the Activision rehash plague, but I’m really glad to see them taking their time on Diablo III and StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. I feel like I’ve been waiting for them forever, but you gotta know they’re gonna be good if they’re taking this long to make it – far from the Activision standard.
Beyond that though, Activision has been to this industry like Wal-mart is to shopping. You won’t find anything unique or worth while, just cheap generic crap, but everyone and their mother is there 24/7 gobbling it up without a second thought. Meanwhile the smaller folk with innovative ideas and creative products get lost in the dust. For shame.
Its kind of sad how this company continues to do well while others that happen to be much more creative and passionate about gaming struggle and die out. I can say that I haven’t supported the company in a long time, though not due to boycotting. I may get Diablo 3 on PS3 should it finally come out, but ah well. I would say that the oversaturation of CoD will hurt themselves like the Hero games, but that to is appart of their business strategy. Milk it for all its worth and move on once the carcass is dry.
That’s great! Because I’ve just vowed to never let Black Ops enter my PS3 ever again. What a steaming pile of shit. At least I borrowed it and they didn’t get my money.
200 of that came from my boyfriend changing the names and races of his toons on wow.
its so stupid
