Michael Pachter Thinks Consoles Will Soon be Outdated

Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter thinks consoles may soon be a thing of the past, with mobile devices replacing the need for systems like the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

At GamesBeat 2014, Pachter explained why he think consoles will be outdated soon, and why the future of gaming may shift to mobile devices.

Now, if you have a Chromecast stick or a Roku box, you can. So why do we buy consoles? I mean, your phone will be powerful enough to power any game in two more generations. And, so, why buy a console? I think Microsoft actually knows that.

On top of that, Pachter also made some negative comments about the newly released game Destiny, saying that he thinks its reviews are too low. “They’re going to have to step it up next time” in order to “support a recurring franchise,” he said.

Whether or not any of this negativity will come to life remains to be seen. What do you think about Pachter’s comments?
