Kevin Butler, VP of Awesome Videos, has teamed up with Best Buy for another explosive advert, this time showing off a new deal where you can buy Sony’s new PlayStation 3D TV Display and get a PS3 for only $100.

While US gamers can already head over to their local electronics store and pick up the PlayStation 3D Display, it looks like gamers in Europe will have some waiting to do, as Sony has delayed the release of this hardware outside of North America.
In 2010, the console that “only does everything” added yet another feature to its already massive list of functionality – 3D gaming. Since then, Sony has done a fantastic job in implementing 3D into many of its games, as well as encouraging third-party partners to offer their games in 3D as well. As the 3D library has grown, so has the need for a low-cost, but high-value 3D display. Sony’s solution was revealed at E3 2011: a PlayStation 3D Display – a 24″ stereoscopic 3D display with an affordable $499 price tag.
The PlayStation 3D Display is now on sale at select retailers, just in time for the busy holiday shopping season. Has Sony created the must-have gift for gamers this holiday season?

3D support has gradually become more commonplace over the past year, with several well-known developers announcing their support for the technology. Ubisoft voiced their interest in stereoscopic 3D support for PS3 titles as far back as 2010, and now that interest appears to have become reality. Read More »

Remember that futuristic looking 3D headset that Sony showed off earlier this year? Well it looks like consumers interested in this tech will actually be able to pick one up for themselves as early as this fall.

The 24″ 3D monitor which was announced at E3 this year has incited a bit of confusion lately, but Sony is here to clear things up on the extremely affordable 3D entertainment solution. Read More »

Just when you thought Rocksteady was providing the most visceral open-world experience of Gotham possible, the development team have upped the ante and revealed that the game will in fact support 3D as well. Not only that, but Rocksteady and Warner Bros. are going out of their way to make three dimensional gaming as accessible as possible, by providing three different 3D alternatives.

In an effort to unify 3D technology, some of the biggest names in the electronics business are teaming up to create a 3D glasses standard. This collaboration, dubbed the “Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative” will bring Samsung, Sony, Panasonic and Xpand together to develop radio frequency system 3D active glasses tech that will serve as the industry’s standard.

It’s been a year since we last talked to Mick Hocking, Director of the Worldwide Studios 3D Team, about 3D, and a lot has changed, including people’s perception of the added dimension – but one thing has remained the same: Sony’s steadfast belief in the format as the viewing medium of the future. To see how well 3D has performed over the past year, what’s going on right now, and a look at the future of 3D – from head mounted displays to holographics, we chatted to Mick – who’s also the Vice President Studio Group for London Studio, Studio Liverpool, Evolution Studios and BigBig Studios – at the Develop Conference in Brighton.

During this year’s Sony E3 press conference it was revealed that an affordable 3DTV solution was on the horizon, and that it also included the incredible ability to display 2 different images for multiplayer gaming. A bundle including a 24″ 3D Monitor, 3D glasses, and an HDMI cable, all with Resistance 3 included was shown during the presentation with a surprisingly low price tag of only $499.99. The bundle is coming soon, but has changed since we last saw it. Read More »
