The power of mobile gaming is only just beginning to chip away at traditional video game consoles according the Ngmoco’s Ben Cousins, who believes that mobile gaming will do to consoles what televisions did to movie theaters.

Announced alongside the Vita over a year ago, Sony has been pretty quiet about the PS Suite – until now.

To celebrate the release of the PS Vita, Sony has updated the “PlayStation Official App” to v1.31, adding an augmented reality-based Vita ad filled with information for people who don’t read PSLS enough.

The fine folks at Pocket-Lint have uncovered some interesting information about upcoming HTC devices. A source has told the publication that HTC will be the first companies, outside of Sony Ericsson, to get PlayStation certification for its mobile devices. While Pocket-Lint has clearly deemed the source credible enough to write-up a story regarding this, we here at PSLS are putting this into the rumor category, as HTC has stated that they can’t “comment on rumors and speculation”.

It’s a new year, and that means it’s time for a new weekly feature – Tech Support, which takes a look at the big stories of the week regarding Sony.

On Wednesday, we announced the release of our Live Wallpaper on the Android Market, and today we are bringing more information about the beta version of our PlayStation LifeStyle Android mobile app.

The day we’ve all been waiting for is here! The PSLS Live Wallpaper is up on the Android Market. Now we just sit back, kick up our feet and count the billions of dollars… oh damn, it’s free. Looks like it’s back to work!

It looks like Sony doesn’t want to limit to PlayStation Suite platform to just in-house hardware, as the company is currently looking to expand to other devices.

A joint venture established in 2001 by Japanese technology giant Sony and Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson to manufacture mobile phones, Sony Ericsson has always had a rather troubled life. While the company has managed to create a few great phones, especially in the camera department, most Sony Ericsson products have failed to have a serious impact on the mobile market. That may be all set to change, as recent reports suggest that Sony are preparing to take full control of the mobile phone company.

Here at PlayStation LifeStyle the only thing we love (almost) as much as PlayStation is Android. To that effect, we have been working on some new and improved PSLS mobile apps, starting with the Android version. The full app is still baking (do I smell Gingerbread?), but in the meantime you can satisfy your app hunger with this Live Wallpaper. Before we submit it to the Android Market we wanted to give our readers a sneak preview.

It’s no secret that Sony embraces many types of entertainment and not just video games so, to capitalize on that, they are introducing the new Sony Entertainment Network.

The official PlayStation App for both Android and iPhone still haven’t been released in North America. But in Europe, the app has already received a significant update which brings a host of new features.

It’s hard to deny that the dedicated handheld market is facing fierce competition from the mobile phone market, with iOS and Android phones often boasting processing power that rivals handhelds. Sony and Nintendo still remain confident that there is money to be made in the market, but South Korean technology giant LG have proclaimed that “the era of [the] dedicated handheld gaming platform is over.”

Launched back in 2009, the PSP’s Digital Comics Reader grew a loyal consumer base as the library of comics swelled past 4,000. However, if you were a fan of the service, we’ve got some bad news for you – no more comics will be coming to the PSP.

Even though this isn’t exactly PlayStation news, it is certainly news that is beneficial to anyone that uses PlayStation Network’s sister service, Qriocity, which is also available on the PS3 and PSP (and eventually the PS Vita). If you are one of the many that subscribe to Qriocity (or maybe you’re trying it for free thanks to the Welcome Back package?), you’ll be happy to know that Sony has released a Qriocity Android app on the Android Market.
