
The day is finally here: across the world, hundreds of thousands, possibly even millions, of gamers a getting their hands on the PlayStation Vita for the first time.

If you’re one of the many gamers who picked up the Vita First Edition Bundle, you’ve been lucky enough to be able to play about with it for nearly a week. But have you been enjoying your experience?

Ever since Sony announced that there would be two different versions of the PS Vita at last year’s E3, the question that has been plaguing gamers’ minds is whether or not the 3G-enabled model is worth the extra $50 and subsequent data fees.

It was recently revealed that the Vita would be getting support from some huge franchises, popular shooter Call of Duty being among them. So there you are: finally the Vita is in your hands, your palms are sweaty with excitement as you hold down the power button for the first time – but what will you hear as the Vita launches? The sound of an orchestra tuning up from old PS3s? Kevin Butler singing? No, something far worse.

It is no secret that the PlayStation Vita isn’t doing quite as well as the 3DS in Japan, but Sony wants to assure gamers that developers are not pulling support from their handheld in favor of Nintendo’s platform.

Ubisoft is apparently so excited to release the next major installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, that they can’t wait until November. As such, the game will hit store shelves before of its typical November release window.

Let’s face it, the tech industry is getting pretty cluttered. We’ve so many computing options that it often becomes quite overwhelming for both consumers and developers. From PCs, Macs and Tablets, to smartphones, consoles and dedicated handhelds, the options are spread far too thin, and Epic CEO Tim Sweeney believes that soon some of these devices will fade from existence.

Sony has plenty of strengths, but marketing certainly isn’t one of them. Fortunately, the quality of their products have been able to speak for themselves in the past, but with the surging popularity of smart-phones threatening the future of the dedicated gaming handheld, Sony plans pull out the big guns to promote the PS Vita by spearheading the biggest marketing campaign they’ve ever had.

Most publishers would be scared to give the trouble-attracting Jaffe a podium to speak on, but not Sony. Like us, they love his potty mouthed craziness, and have indulged him with his very own Twisted Metal ad – that lets you remotely control a gun to shoot a real truck.

Probably the best Move-only game out there, Zindagi Games’ Sports Champions highlighted just what the motion control was capable of. Their next release, Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest, sadly wasn’t as good, but still helped support the Move platform – something that Sony has had trouble doing. Now, we’ve uncovered a job listing that states that the developer is working on yet another PS3-exclusive, which is probably another Move game.

Game retailer Future Shop has hinted at an impending God of War IV announcement during the ongoing retailer-centric event, Destination PlayStation.
