Fear My Power!

When Sony decided to future proof the PlayStation 3 with Blu-Ray, it was a costly expense at first, but is now starting to show it’s worth. The size of the disc and the content that can be crammed onto it is unparalleled.  When District 9 hit late last year, it came equipped with a demo of the God of War III E3 2009 demo for those to enjoy. Zombieland, another fantastic movie from 2009, continues this trend with a free bonus for anyone who buys the Blu-Ray Edition.

In a recent interview with Play3, Sony’s Senior VP of Product Development, Shuhei Yoshida said that the PlayStation 4 will use optical storage discs like Blu-Ray for blockbuster games. Who doesn’t love PS3 bundles? Especially in Japan, bundles typically sell much better than standalone consoles. Perfect examples of this would be the recent Final Fantasy XIII ‘Lightning’ white and pink PS3 bundled with a copy of FFXIII, the Metal Gear Solid 4 gun-metal PS3 bundle, or even the Yakuza 3 white PS3 bundle. However, the bundle should still have plenty of consumers moonwalking over to their local retailer to pick up one of these bundles.

it-only-does-everything

The “It only does everything” PlayStation commercials have been pretty successful about getting the message out. It’s definitely much better then the empty white room ads that the PS3 launched with. Success begets success so it’s not a big surprise to see more of these ads (and likely more to come). This latest commercial featured on the PSBlog showcases features available for a more mature audience.
