Thanks a whole bunch for the PDF and the video files for the YLOD. My PS3 is an original 60GB and has more than paid for itself in the amount of fun I have had over the last 3years. Thanks to you i can have another 3 years or more.
Once again Many many thanks for the info.
Thank you so much for posting the PDF and videos, I just saved my PS3 once again...My only issue is that now my fan is running very loud and I got a warning to shut down the system to cool down within 5 minutes of testing it. Any ideas?
Thanks for the guide it works perfect,
but i have a problem. now i have a ps3 60 gig with the ylod, i reflow'd it and dosn't work. still ylod. it is not the first time i have done it so i dont think i have done it rong. it is not the power suply ether. do you have an idee what else it coud be?
great educational video gilksy. I have a question for you though...
I did one ps3 successfully with no problems at all, then I atempted another one i've had laying around for approx 6 months.
I followed the same steps as before but the thermal paste was all over the show when I opened it up, I cleaned it up as best I can and proceeded. It fired into life BUT for the first second it's fine but after that it gives off green squares all over the screen and freezes. The on/off switch works fine and it stays on with no "YLOD" but worthless when on. Wouldn't have anything to do with thermal paste being somewhere it shouldn't be would it???
I used a 500 dregree heat gun and heated each part for no more that 30 secs (as I said before, It worked on the first one).
I'm going to start again with it but any ideas???
Gilksy,
thank you for your efforts in putting together the YLOD fix guide and youtube videos. Using these I managed to get my launch day ps3 working again, which would not have been posible without your help.
gilksy
Im an idiot. There are not too many things I am mechanically inclined to do. But after 3 years our ps3 did the ylod. I followed your directions and it works!! I cannot thank you enough for posting this. Saved us having to buy another one. You are awsome!!!!!
Hello again again!!! - I've solved the problem - the ps3 got YLOD again but this time I also cutted a hole and installed a large fan 150x150 on the downside - now ti runs smoothly!!!
