But someone messed up on Dragon Age: Origins…

Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition was just released to the EU regions last Friday and BioWare have confirmed that they have made a massive error. The purpose of these types of collections is to package all of the downloadable expansions onto one disc that were originally released digitally. Along with the Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening expansion, the Ultimate Edition includes the following DLC releases:

The Stone Prisoner

Warden’s Keep

Return to Ostagar

The Darkspawn Chronicles

Leliana’s Song

The Golems of Amgarrak

Witch Hunt

Feastday Gifts

Feastday Pranks

But the problem is, the PS3 version of the game does not contain Return to Ostagar. At all. It’s just not on the disc. Not that the Blu-Ray disc can’t handle it, as the US version of the game has the content. The online producer of the Dragon Age franchise Fernando Melo has come on to the official BioWare Forums to address the issue.

While there is a DLC listed with this name, it appears to be the contents of one of the other DLCs. Our sincere apologies for this error.

If you are unfortunate enough to experience this error , be sure to contact EA Customer Support. If you provide your product code (check near the bottom of the game’s spine and the product id should begin with “BLES”), your region’s EA Representative will give you a voucher to download this DLC pack from the PSN Store. It defeats the purpose of a compilation release, but at least EA is rectifying the situation. Hopefully this will be the last time something like this happens.

[<a

This DLC looks to answer some questions that were brought up at the end of the game, so if you have not played/finished the game, you have been warned, this article has spoilers. Now for those that are curious about what this new “Witch Hunt” DLC is about, feel free to continue reading.

At the end of Dragon Age: Origins many users wondered what happened to Morrigan, this is what “Witch Hunt” is going to answer. The DLC takes place a year after the events of the game, and Morrigan has been rumored to have returned to Ferelden. The full details of the DLC are as follows:

“The dreaded Archdemon has been slain and the advance of the darkspawn halted by a lone, heroic Grey Warden. The kingdom rejoices, but at least one question remains: what happened to Morrigan? The sorceress joined the Wardens cause, but it is said her true purpose was not revealed until the eve of the last battle. She vanished into the shadows, and while rumors claimed she crossed over the mountains into Orlais no trace of her path could be found. She was never heard from again… until now. Nearly a year has passed since the Archdemon’s death, and word has reached the Wardens that Morrigan has returned to Ferelden. She has been sighted in the southern wilderness where she was first encountered. Is it truly her? If it is, then why has is she here and what secret does she carry with her? The Warden heads into the forest to find out and tie up this last loose end once and for all.”

The DLC has been slated for a September 7th release on the PlayStation Network, and will cost $6.99. How many of you plan on picking it up?

[<a

Although the core game is very story-driven from start to finish, this upcoming DLC features at least one new dungeon, lots of difficulty but no story to engage in. Apparently, the content is aimed at experienced players looking to try themselves at a more challenging albeit rewarding experience.

The upcoming Dragon: Age Origins DLC has no set release date or title, but should be out within the next couple months. More information should be available in short order.

Dragon Age: Origins originally launched in November of 2009. The hit from both Bioware and EA brought a gamers a deep and immersive Action RPG that PS3 owners had been needing for quite some time. The game itself garnered many awards and praises from many gaming sites and publications, including us here at PlayStation LifeStyle. Given the success of the title, it had a slew of downloadable content that was released for it, including the full fledged expansion Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening. The most recent downloadable content that is available to players is titled Dragon Age: Origins – Leliana’s Song. Yet another batch of downloadable content has been released, but is it worth a look from fans of Origins?

Players will assume the role of Leliana, whom was a member of the Chantry during the full version of Dragon Age: Origins. Leliana’s Song takes a look at her past and how she came to be, this includes her relationship with Marjolaine, whom mentors her throughout the missions within the downloadable content. You will begin the game with Leliana, Tug, and Sketch all working together to accomplish various missions set out for you by Marjolaine.

As you progress through the missions many twists and turns will definitely keep you interested. Though not all players may have learned everything about Leliana had they not taken the correct steps necessary in Origins. This is well known through many of Bioware’s Action-RPG’s. Necessary steps must be taken to fully learn everything there is to know about specific characters in a title, and this was no different in Dragon Age: Origins. Though just like any character out there, many either love Leliana or don’t care for her. So that should also be taken into consideration when making your purchase decision.

Players will find themselves having to adjust to only having three characters at a time, while Origins allowed a total of four. Tug is a dwarf warrior that allows for a much needed character with a lot of strength during encounters. Sketch is an elf that assists with both magic attacks and healing as well. Considering you can control the leveling of the characters, just like in Origins, it is up to you what abilities the characters will unlock during your playthrough. Control wise there are no changes to the title. The game itself plays just like Origins, so veterans of the game will feel right at home.

While the content is very short, it is also a very enjoyable experience overall. The game itself does a great job of telling Leliana’s backstory, featuring fully voiced cutscenes throughout Leliana’s Song. This is definitely a pickup for diehard fans of the Dragon Age: Origins and especially for fans of Leliana. But given the length of the DLC, it is hard to recommend it to anyone else. Though for those on edge, the price is definitely fair for what it offers. The downloadable content can be purchased for $6.99 in the PlayStation Store.
<table

However, there are almost always some PS3 owners who claim to experience issues after downloading the latest firmware update.

Various amount of PlayStation 3 users are reporting freezing/crashing errors with their Dragon Age: Origins copies. This is after those users have updated their consoles to the latest firmware update, 3.30. The issue has seemed to plague both fat and slim models of the PlayStation 3, with complaints revolved mostly around freezing. User “scorpgul” on the BioWare forums began the onslaught of frustration, saying that his copy of the RPG had froze seven times since he downloaded the update. Another user reported that his copy had froze twice over a half-hour period, while he had played the game without problems for four days before the update hit. The freezing has also affected PS3s in both North American and European regions. According to BioWare’s Fernando Melo, the developer is working with Sony to resolve the issue. We’ll, of course, keep you posted on that.

So, PlayStation LifeStyle readers, are there any problems with your copies of Dragon Age: Origins? href="http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3178311">1UP has received their early retail copy of Dragon: Age Origins – Awakening, and have snapped a picture of something awfully peculiar. In front of the expansion’s manual is a small card, with Dragon Age’s signature blood red dragon. The interesting part is what else is on the card – a date of February 1st 2011. A date which could possibly be for Dragon Age 2. Also put into consideration that February 1st of next year is a Tuesday, the main weekday release for games.

What’s interesting is that in EA’s latest conference call, the mega publisher confirmed that a Dragon Age sequel will be released between January and March of 2011. In a press release dated February 8th, EA revealed it’s calendar for fiscal year 2011. Among the titles in the calender, is “Dragon Age Title TBA”. However Bioware did reveal that Dragon Age: Origins will in fact have a two year DLC plan, so it is unclear at this point if this cryptic message is revealing a date for a sequel or an additional expansion pack.

Are you hoping for a sequel to Dragon Age: Origins? href="http://dragonage.bioware.com/awakening/faq/" target="_blank">FAQ section on the official Dragon Age website, we have learned a bit of new information about the expansion. While it will be making its way onto store shelves in the United States, the game will be available in Europe as downloadable content only.

It struck us as a bit odd that the expansion would not be released at retail only in Europe, but thanks to an EA spokesman speaking with Joystiq, we received some clarification on the situation:

Apparently this is a Sony Europe rule – you cannot have expansion packs be available on PSN and at retail. You can in North America, which is why we have both here.

So there you have it–Europeans, if you’re in the market to expand your Dragon Age experience, you’d better clear some HDD space.
<hr

I can confirm that we’re doing a lot of work on the Dragon Age engine, and doing a lot of stuff to pump it — to make it visually super hot.

I think the overall visual style we’re going to continue to evolve in Dragon Age. id="more-58570">

In Return to Ostagar the player gets to revisit the site of the Grey Wardens last stand. Here you are tasked with reclaiming the honor of the Grey Wardens as well as learning the secrets of Ferelden’s fallen king. Return to Ostagar has not be given an exact release date on the PS3, only that it will be later January. We do however know the price point as it will be $4.99 when it releases.

Aaryn Flynn, General Manager and Vice President, BioWare Edmonton had this to say in the press release about the new content.

“We are thrilled at the way the fans have embraced Dragon Age: Origins and we’re excited to welcome them back into the game. Return to Ostagar represents BioWare’s commitment to providing a steady stream of compelling post release content as we continue to expand the Dragon Age universe.”

Will anyone be forking over the cash late January to get another shot at the battle of Ostagar?
<hr
