SCEE has just announced that the God of War Collection - which saw a Blu-ray release back in 2009 – will be releasing on the European PlayStation Store on November 3rd, 2010.

The God of War Collection which includes the first two God of War games, remastered in high-definition. SCEE confirmed that gamers can either purchase the games individually for €17.99/£13.99 each or buy them as bundle for €29.99/£23.99.

No word if the God of War Collection will be releasing on the US PlayStation Store but we’ll keep you updated for any developments. For more information on the God of War Collection be sure to check out PlayStation LifeStyle’s review.

*UPDATE* The US PlayStation Blog has also confirmed the digital release of the God of War Collection on the other side of the Atlantic. While no information on pricing was given nor if the games would be sold separately, it will be released on November 2nd, the same day as God of War: Ghost of Sparta on the PSP.

While many have been hoping for PS2 backward compatibility in the newer PS3 models, Sony have taken the liberty to create PS2 collections instead. The Sly Cooper Collection was just announced at E3 as a collection of all 3 major Sly Cooper games with 3D integration and more. Because of the positive reception from consumers, Sony is looking to broaden the selection in the near future.

During IGN’s interview with Shuhei Yoshida, a president at SCE, Shuhei showed a strong interest in creating more PS2 HD collections in the future. When asked about Sony’s success with collections, Shuhei replied:

“There were a lot of positive reactions from consumers in doing that, and now we get a lot of suggestions for types of packs they’d like to see…”

He then added:

“So we are looking to continue to do these HD conversions”

The God of War Collection was a huge success both critically and in terms of sales. While it’d be nice for Sony to incorporate backward-compatibility with every PS3 console, the PS2 HD Collections are a welcomed alternative. The mixture of improved visuals, trophies and in Sly Cooper’s case, 3D and Move support, the upgrades are significant and worthy of a fresh purchase.

Sony announced today that the exclusive collection of PS3 titles, the “Greatest Hits“, are rapidly expanding, with some of the biggest and hottest titles of the past year. In all, 10 new titles are being added, which brings the total to a whopping 40. The $29.99 price tag coupled with the fact that these are some of the greatest games the PS3 has in its library, makes this an offer one cannot refuse.

Most notable of the inductees include Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, God of War: Collection and inFamous. Full list below:

God of War III has only been out for just over a week and it has already hit a large sales milestone. Kratos has struck a chord with gamers and critics alike. Ushering in strong review scores and kudos from fans of the series everywhere.

Santa Monica Studio‘s masterpiece has now sold over 1.1 million copies since its release according to the videogame statistics addicts over at vgchartz.com. 700,000 of those copies were sold in North America, while 400,000 were sold in Europe and other regions (not Japan yet). This makes it the fastest-selling entry in the franchise, and sets Kratos well on his way to outdo even himself. LTD (that’s Lifetime-To-Date) sales of the original God of War is around 4 million, while God of War II has sold ~3.3 million units. The PSP entry Chains of Olympus has sold 2.4 million copies, and the God of War Collection, which is only out in North America, has sold around 800,000 copies. The entire franchise has now sold over 11.6 million copies across three platforms.

The success of the two last generation God of War titles has inevitably lead to Sony deliver a visually updated version of the beloved classics to PlayStation 3 owners in the form of God of War Collection. However, the collection has thus far only been released in North America. Now this titan-sized collection will finally be slashing its way to other territories.

Sony Europe has announced via the PS Blog that the much sought for God of War Collection will be released in Europe in April. UK, Ireland, Germany & Austria will receive the bundle on 30th April 2010, Australia & New Zealand on 29th April 2010 and the rest of PAL on 28th April 2010.

What’s most likely an apology for releasing the collection so late, Sony have also announced a ‘God of War Trilogy’ boxset. The special edition includes the God of War Collection and God of War III. It’s priced at a recommended retail price of €39.99/£24.99 RRP and will be released at the same time as the God of War Collection game.

God of War III is probably the biggest and most hyped PS3 exclusives to date. Kratos’ epic will without a doubt be a massive financial boost to Sony in terms of both game and console sales (that is if Sony can get some more stock on retailers shelves). However, will the competition from other blockbuster releases in a month already showered with many great games stop Kratos’ fury on the sales charts? Nope. Competition means nothing to Kratos and in the end, there will only be massive sales.

The success of the two last generation God of War titles inevitably lead to Sony delivering a visually updated version of the beloved classics to PlayStation 3 owners in the form of God of War Collection. Yet there are still others who have waited to purchase a PS3 for Kratos’ installment (you know who you are).

With only one day until the launch, God of War III is doing exceptional in Europe. Amazon UK has Kratos in 1st on their ‘Hot Future Releases‘ and in 1st place on the top pre-order chart of 2010 as well as being the top seller in the overall bestseller category. Amazon France has the special collectors edition and normal edition placed on 1st and 3rd respectively on their best seller list. étonnant (that’s French for amazing).

Rising online retailer ShopTo have the title 1st on their top overall pre-order chart. United Kingdom’s biggest online retailer Play.com sees Sony’s anti-hero gracing 1st with their exclusive God Of War III special edition. GAME, another large retailer lists the exclusive at 1st in their top pre-order chart.

North America’s largest online retailer Amazon US puts God of War III in the coveted first position.

Import veterans Play-Asia has the game down as 1st once again in their top seller list. HMV lists the game as first on their PlayStation 3 best seller list.

God of War III is triumphing in terms of sales everywhere, and you can expect it to be doing so for some time to come. If you want to guarantee your self a copy then why not buy GOW3 right now? God Of War III is on store shelves right now in North America and will be on March 19th for Europe.

Yet another dreadful work week has passed, and with that, us gamers like to kick back and unwind by popping our favorite games into our favorite console. We here at PlayStation LifeStyle are no different. Find out what the PSLS staff will be playing this weekend, and share your very own weekend gaming playlist.

March has finally begun and this should be a busy time for any gamer, especially with all the great games on the schedule this month.  I will be playing a lot of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 this weekend as I try and get the review out as quickly as possible, so look for me online.  Besides that, I will find my usual time for NHL 10, which never seems to get old, despite its issues, and hopefully some more MAG, which I am really enjoying.

But enough about me–let’s dive in and see what everyone else here at PSLS plans on playing this weekend.

Finishing up Batman: Arkham Asylum and then starting up Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Looking forward to Final Fantasy XIII next week. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a good Final Fantasy title.

I’ll be playing the Just Cause 2 Demo and that’s about it. I’m going out of town this weekend with some friends, so I won’t be playing any games. When I come back I’ll pick up Battlefield and play some of that. I love me some destructable walls!

I will be enjoying the latest episode of The Tester, getting a new playthrough of Heavy Rain and will purchase Assassin’s Creed 2.

Having another get together on Saturday so more Karaoke Revolution and SingStar is on tap. I’ve seen 15 different endings on Heavy Rain so far, but MLB 10 The Show is taking over my free time. “Road to the Show” as a catcher and calling games is pretty fun.

I’ll be checking out the add-on chapters of Resident Evil 5 and Heavy Rain, and continuing to work my way through Borderlands.  I’ll also be waiting patiently for Final Fantasy and trying not to think about it too much.

I’m likely going to be reorganizing my room for much of the weekend, but hopefully I’ll have time to play more Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, and the God of War Collection. I really have to finish that before the epic GoW III! My PSP will be seeing lots of Vector TD action (review coming soon), and maybe I’ll have some time to convert my PS3 LBP level to a PSP version…

Richard Allen – Managing Editor

I may do another play through on Dante’s Inferno to get the platinum.  I did the main quest and the Gates of Hell “challenge”.  I still have yet to finish up my Platinum run on Jurassic: The Hunted (think Cabelas with Dinosaurs and Jumping). My clan on MAG has been wondering where I have been so, I should be hitting that up as well.  Still have yet to complete the first BioShock maybe I can make time for that before my buddy lends me BioShock 2.

Ryan Ordway – Technology Systems

Going to dig into Battlefield Bad Company 2, and if I get time I’m hoping to finish up Heavy Rain. And of course, there is the ever present Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare calling me to duty. When I’m not near my PS3, I will of course be working on finishing up my High Rank guild quests in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite so I can finally get to the G Rank quests.

Going to try my best to get the Platinum in Heavy Rain while I play some MLB 10: The Show. Yeah, there’s 17 different endings in HR, but there is a trick to it. Then getting ready for Final Fantasy XIII on Tuesday.

Flying through the Just Cause 2 demo, and hopefully finding some time to play Heavy Rain. Then Killzone 2 multiplayer to finish it off.

There are a ton of great games left to play before the onslaught that is March.  This weekend I will be finishing up my review of Last Rebellion while also finding time to fit in Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce and Sypro: Dawn of the Dragon.  I am also trying to complete the God of War Collection before the 3rd game comes out on the 16th.  If I find enough time maybe some NHL 10 and Uncharted so that I can try and platinum it.

So now let’s dive in and see just what everyone else here at PSLS plans on playing this weekend.

I also got Bioshock 2 from Gamefly so I might play some of that, as well. I never played through the first Bioshock, so i’m really excited to start playing it. I’m still trying to decide on whether or not im going to get Greed Corp….I gotta watch my money with GOW 3, Yakuza 3, and FF13 coming out soon

If I can get some alone time with the PS3, I’ll be working on my 3rd playthrough of “Heavy Rain”. I’ve seen 2 different endings so far, but I noticed that there are scenes that seem to have multiple endings as well.

I’m still trying to decide which PS3 game to snag amongst the plethora of awesome titles which have come out recently. Currently though, I’m tearing through Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection. I just got the platinum trophy for that game and am now on a Streets of Rage binge! Man, that series really does rock! I’ll probably hop into Burnout Paradise as well for some freeburning action, you just can’t beat it!

On my PS3, I’ll try to finish my first playthrough of Heavy Rain. So far so good! I’m also going to hop back on MAG, I wish I had more time to invest there. Gotta play Uncharted 2 online what with that new DLC pack releasing and all. I finally Platinum’d Ratchet and Clank Future: ACiT, but I’m still going to load that up to see what each weapon does at their maximum Omega levels! My PSP will likely be playing SOCOM: FTB3 and some Pinball Heroes, and maybe some Minis. Why can’t this be another three-day weekend?

You will find me on the battlefields of MAG with my Apex 100 gunning down SVER/Valor forces.  My Clan has grown to about 40 Raven and MAG is so much more fun with you have a squad of 8 cooperative guys with Mics.  I will likely start another play-through of Heavy Rain and I may even intentionally fail all QTEs just to see how quickly I can kill off the cast. Hopefully I will have a little time to finally Platinum Caldron Game’s masterpeice – Jurassic: The Hunted.

I am going to run through all of the Borderlands DLC now that the level cap was raised. Im going to play some more Heavy Rain if I get some big blocks of time to play uninterrupted. And I might try out the Bioshock 2 multiplayer.  On the PSP side, nothing touches my PSP but Monster Hunter Freedom Unite!

I’ll be finally getting my hands on Heavy Rain, and plan on trying to complete this beauty in one go. However, if local postage fails yet again I’ll borrow the GOW Collection off a friend and replay the greatest games of the last generation in preparation for the beast of a game that is GOW 3.

Kratos is quite possibly one of the most iconic figures in video gaming today. There is no doubt he tops the list for violence. With the upcoming release of God of War III and recent release of the God of War Collection on the PlayStation 3, the buzz over Kratos has been rekindled. A lot of deals seem to have found their way to our doorstep these past few days, why should today be any different? Why not a deal on God of War Collection? It looks like those thoughts have been answered, as Amazon has a hell of a deal for you.

We are not sure how long this deal will be active, but if you head over to Amazon, you can pick up the God of War Collection for $29.99. For anyone who does not know, the God of War Collection is a package containing the first two God of War games on a single Blu-ray disc, fully remastered in HD and with added trophy support. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has confirmed that it has plans to release the much sought for God Of War Collection separately for United Kingdom fans.

No details have been confirmed of the anticipated God Of War 1 and 2 combo in the UK but the collection will be included in to the God Of War: Ultimate Trilogy Edition.

A Sony rep told a source their plans for the GOW: Collection for UK territories:

There are plans to release the GOW Collection separately but nothing has been confirmed outside of the Ultimate Edition for the time being.

Sony also confirmed it could only speak for the UK in terms of the Collection being sold outside the Ultimate Trilogy Edition. Details of what the UTE contains can be found here, but the special edition comes with an ungodly price of £110.

SCEE recently aimed to release God Of War III in the UK on March 19, but confirmed to multiple sources it was only a tracking date.
