Rock Band Signs Green Day for a New Game [Update]

PlayStation LifeStyle is expecting a load of new titles to be announced tonight at Spike’s Video Game Awards. Though there will be twelve new announcements, we can already guess three. One is the new Star Wars game, rumored to be Star Wars: Legends. The second is UFC 2010 Undisputed, which we revealed would have a May 25th 2010 release. Finally, the third is Green Day Rock Band, shown by the behind-the-scenes look at the VGAs.

Ubisoft Executive has Blunt Advice for Other Devs

In a recent interview, Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto talked about how in the current video game market, there is no room for average or sub-par games. With mega-titles such as Modern Warfare 2, Assassin’s Creed 2, Tekken 6, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time, Lego Rock Band and The Saboteur, his words may have some proof behind them.

“It would certainly be too pretentious of me to try to predict the future. But I can certainly say there is no room any more for average or bad games, but there is still a lot of room for awesome games, and that’s what Assassin’s Creed is.

Mallat then went on to answer a question regarding the enormity of the Assassin’s Creed name. Could it match the popularity Modern Warfare 2 is generating?

“It is possible, absolutely. Assassin’s Creed is already the fastest selling new IP, two years ago, and that’s good.
Is Assassin’s Creed going to be the biggest brand or name in the video game industry? I certainly hope so, and I would say we’re doing everything we can so that it happens.”

LEGENDARY BAND QUEEN TO APPEAR IN LEGO ROCK BAND

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and MTV Games today announced that LEGO® Rock Band™ will feature the likeness of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and multi-platinum selling group Queen. Appearing in the game as LEGO minifigures, front man Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, bassist John Deacon and drummer Roger Taylor will be seen jamming to their hit anthems “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions.”

Guitarist Brian May said: “This is IT! I wanna play! When do I get my toy LEGO man?”

Today also marks the release of the Queen pack for the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content, featuring 10 of the band’s most loved songs including “Killer Queen,” “Somebody to Love,” “Fat Bottomed Girls” and the Queen/David Bowie collaboration, “Under Pressure.” In addition, Queen will release Absolute Greatest on 17th November, featuring 20 of the band’s biggest hits.

LEGO Rock Band puts the power of rock into the hands of tweens, teens, families and gamers of all ages as they go on a wild journey to stardom as they “Build a Band and Rock the Universe.” The game is developed by TT Games in partnership with Harmonix for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™ home videogame console. LEGO Rock Band for Nintendo DS™ is co-developed by TT Games and Harmonix in partnership with Backbone Entertainment, a Foundation 9 Entertainment studio. All versions are scheduled for release in the UK on 27th.

BLUR TO FEATURE IN LEGO ROCK BAND

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and MTV Games today announce that LEGO® Rock Band™ will feature the likeness of chart-topping UK band, Blur. Singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree will be shown in the game as LEGO mini figures as players perform the group’s hit track, “Song 2.”

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and MTV games today announced five new songs for the upcoming videogame release, LEGO Rock Band.

Lego Rock Band Allows Players to Tackle Monsters, With Rock!

The upcoming Lego Rock Band is just the latest iteration in the Lego craze that is sweeping the gaming world. However, TT Games head Jonathan Smith is making sure this Lego game will sticking out from the rest.

“In a Lego world, where anything is possible, all the brilliant things about Rock Band mix with all the brilliant things about Lego,” Smith said.
“The Lego character customizer means that pirates, knights and skeletons can be rock stars too, in amazing new locations. Battle sea-monsters, smash up an entire building, or take a trip into space, all with the power of rock!
“That essential Rock Band gameplay is still there; but now it’s also accessible to a broader audience, with new easy-play options, songs which everyone knows, and lyrics which are appropriate for all ages.”

Smith then went on to talk about customization, and how it isn’t essential to the game, and players won’t have to do it if they don’t want to.

“Customization is a key concept in all Lego games – but it’s totally up to you how much time you spend on it.”

Lego Rock Band, releasing later this year on the PS3, is set to go head-to-head with the titans of the music genre, the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series.

The first trailer of Lego Rock Band has debuted. Lego Rock Band is the fifth iteration in the Rock Band franchise. It’s expected to release Holiday 2009.

New Details Stack Up for Lego Rock Band

New details have emerged for Lego Rock Band, the newest installment in the Rock Band series:

- Game progression includes collecting Lego pieces, which allow you to “build cooler vehicles and move to new venues.”
- There will be an extra easy mode in the game.
- You will be able to “destroy a giant robot, summon a storm, and demolish a skyscraper.”

New info on Lego Rock Band will be reported as it hits.

Rock the Blocks: Lego Rock Band Coming

After months of spectulation, Lego Rock Band has been confirmed, with TT Games and Harmonix at the wheel. The game will be coming to PS3, 360, Wii and DS, this holiday season, and promises some kid friendly fun. So far, a list of songs from the game have been confirmed:

Blur: “Song 2”
Carl Douglas: “Kung Fu Fighting”
Europe: “The Final Countdown”
Good Charlotte: “Boys and Girls”
Pink: “So What”

It has also been confirmed that Lego Rock Band will be using all existing Rock Band and Guitar Hero controllers. Unless you want to buy super cool Lego peripherals (if they’re real).
