Sony has just revealed that PlayStation Home, the virtual world that has ensnared millions across the world, is celebrating it’s two year anniversary.
For far too long, Home has been criticized for a lack of content. Sure, when it first went to open beta it was lacking, but since then there has been countless updates, and home spaces added – not to mention plenty of mini games. Late in 2009, Sony took Home to a whole new level [...]
PlayStation Home core client update v1.4 went live last week, but now it’s time for a bit of maintenance to accommodate all the awesomeness that users have been experiencing.
PlayStation Home core client update v1.4 has finally hit PS3′s everywhere, and we finally managed to get our hands on it. What should you expect in this tremendous update? Let’s take a look!
The pixelated role-playing game by Atlus, 3D Dot Game Heroes, may exclusively consist of the Kingdom of Dotnia now but, soon enough, the colorful realm is going to be invading everyone’s favorite PlayStation 3 virtual “Home“. From Software has effectively found an excuse to leave its mark in the popular virtual online community, carrying over [...]
Since Home was released, social gamers have seen a constant flow of new content. Yet another new update hitting very soon will be bringing some much wanted features back to the service, along with a few new additions.
At this year’s Develop Conference in Brighton PlayStation LifeStyle chatted to Outso, the British based independent developer responsible for the majority of the best spaces and areas on Sony’s growing social hub PlayStation Home, including the hugely successful Sodium One. Talking to Sophia Coney, Barney Williams and Jamie Riding, PSLS covered everything from Sodium One to 3D and Move support for Home.
Just this past week, Sony revealed the new and improved disc-less Netflix application for the PlayStation 3 in North America along with the UK’s new LOVEFiLM. This new advancement will mean significantly improved video streaming options on the console, but one has to wonder just how this will affect the PS3′s interactive social network, PlayStation [...]
Our beloved PlayStation has turned 15, and instead of us throwing the party, it seems as though Sony will be instead.
PlayStation Home users will certainly be pleased this week, as this week’s content update will finally bring some new functionality to Home personal spaces, along with the usual boatload of virtual items.
It looks like PlayStation Home owners will have a lot more to provide friends when they come over as VoodooChief have revealed on their personal blog that a Poker table is in the works. This is not just any table though as you will be able to set it inside of your home space, giving visitors to the virtual service much more use out of their personal space.
Once upon a time in PlayStation Home, a love story blossomed…
It is perhaps the greatest sequel to any film of all time and it’s about to turn 3o years young..it is…Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back!! What better way to celebrate this milestone in movie history then with a barrage of PlayStation Home content!?! Star Wars fans who also happen to be PS Home fans should definitely check this out, as not only do we get new and excited SW-related costumes, but we also receive a brand-new spanking public space featuring one of the more iconic locations in the trilogy’s history!
So what location am I talking about?? The Mos Eisley Cantina!! For those of you who need a reminder, this is where Luke and Obi-Wan meet Han for the first time on Tatooine in Star Wars: A New Hope. Yeah, it doesn’t have much to do with TESB, but hey..a new public space is always welcomed in PS Home!
The Mos Eisley Catina is faithfully recreated starring Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes house band and Wuher, the bartender who also happens to hate droids. As you can see in the screens, the team at LucasArts did one heck of a job transfering the location to the digital world.
Finally, some Empire Strikes Back specific content is coming in the way off the following costumes: Imperial Snowtrooper Suit, AT-AT Pilot Suit, Rebel Snowspeeder Pilot, Han Solo Hoth Outfit, Leia Organa Hoth Outfit, Chewbacca Wookiee Costume, and C-3PO Protocol Droid Costume.
So ‘Use the Force’ this Thursday, August 4th on PlayStation Home to check out some of this new and exciting content. The Star Wars nerd inside us all demands it! Now if we could only get a Boba Fett costume, my life would be complete..
PlayStation Home has been a success for Sony, and it looks like the momentum is just going to continue to build in its favor. Director Jack Buser recently let loose some interesting facts about just how well the program is faring.
Jack Buser has been the go-to guy for SCEA‘s PlayStation Home service. PSLS managed to sit down with him as well as developer Jeff Gullett and Crystal Braswell, Senior Corporate Communications Specialist for SCEA to discuss how Home is doing and what plans are in its near future.
