On the eve of GDC, Electronic Arts sent out a press release officially announcing the inclusion of The Ryder Cup tournament in Tiger’s next game slated to be on store shelves June 8th. In addition, EA pledges compatibility with Sony’s Move will deliver an “authentic interactive swing experience.”

Interestingly, while the title will also support Wii MotionPlus, information regarding Microsoft’s Natal was noticeably absent, giving greater credibility to Sony’s claim that Move will have more games available as a result of being less challenging to develop for.

EA Sports President Peter Moore has stated that the recent scandal surrounding Tiger Woods‘ personal life did not affect sales of the PGA Tour titles. Moore stated that the golfer is “very important” to the business.

In an interview with GameSpot, Peter Moore explained how Woods’ recent problems has had no negative impact on the sales of his golfing series.

We haven’t seen an impact. We looked at December sales and then we looked at the year as a whole. The situation with Tiger unfortunately happened over the Thanksgiving holiday going into the holiday selling period, but there was no degradation of sales we could see. Overall franchise sales for calendar year ‘09 were better than ‘08.

Like all golf fans and people involved in the business that is Tiger Woods, we wish him the best with some of the challenges he’s going through with his family right now, and we give him the privacy he asked for as regards his indefinite leave from golf. But we also hope to see him back on the course as soon as possible.

Moore also explained how Woods is important to the golfing business:

He’s very important to the business of golf, and those that rely upon him are very eager to see him back. But it’s going to be his call when he comes back

EA hopes to deliver the thrill of smashing a ball 200 yards out by announcing the next installment of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. This comes as a surprise, considering how many Tiger Woods backers are hiding in the sand after all the controversy surrounding the golf superstar.

EA has announced Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, aiming for a summer release across multiple platforms.

Also announced is the open beta of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online which makes its entrance to golf fans today. The closed beta saw a total of over 500,000 rounds of golf played.
