Sony seems to have slipped a feature into the XMB that has gone largely unnoticed. Certain PlayStation 3 titles such as Red Alert 3 and Resident Evil 5 support online game invites. This feature is available in the when you pull up a user profile.
For supported games you will find a “Menu” button that will allow you to click on it to invite that user into an online game.
