The introduction of motion control technology, especially at this year’s E3, has no doubt raised intrigue among hardcore and casual gamers alike due to technical demos showcasing new innovations that have raised eyebrows even amongst veteran gamers. In an interview with Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA, he hinted at something that will probably grab every PS3’s attention.

When discussing motion controls in the interview, Tretton explained that gamers could very well see motion control technology implemented in their current collection of PS3 titles:

“Personally, it’s very difficult for me to perceive ‘God of War 3’ being played with the Wii controller,” he says. “It’s a different experience that doesn’t lend itself to certain types of games. I think our controller can be used with every game that’s on the system now — and every game we’re working on.”

When asked if updates to current games could get motion control technology added, Tretton proclaimed that this idea was “absolutely conceivable”. And since the motion controler itself will have an array off tangible buttons, we could very well see first and third-person shooters and other genres fully controllable via this motion controller. Even more exciting is the fact that Sony’s motion controller is far more accurate than the Wii-mote, tracking movements down to the sub-millimeter level. So if you suck at aiming, you’ve got no one to blame but yourself.
