Update: The US PlayStation Blog has confirmed the update. You can check it out here.
The Examiner is claiming, via a discovery by TheGamerAccess, that PlayStation 3 will be receiving its latest update, 2.80, tomorrow.
The Examiner claims that no major additions will be added through this firmware update, though minor additions will be made. Trophy sychronization will run faster now, as will the XMB. An official announcement is supposed to be made either tonight or early tomorrow on the update.
The speculation began when Sony updated their press site with a 2.80 debug file. The file is not yet available for download, though it’s important to note that Sony usually adds PS3 debug firmware files to their press site anywhere from days to weeks before PS3 owners get the finalized update. Hopefully their predictions ring true, as any improvements to the XMB are more than welcome.
