The EVO Championship Series in Las Vegas is the longest-running fighting game tournament in the world, as well as the largest. Featuring thousands of competitors from across the globe, the tournament features Capcom fighting games both old and new, and it’s been revealed that the newer, multiplatform titles will all be running on Sony’s platform, the PlayStation 3.
Capcom’s Seth Killian, an organizer for EVO, stated:
“PlayStation has been an important part of EVO history, but this year, we’ve selected the PS3 as the platform of choice for our very biggest competitions, including Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Street Fighter IV.”
Participants are allowed to bring their own systems in the BYOC (bring your own console) matches. The tournament will have the following games represented:
- Street Fighter IV
- Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix
- Soul Calibur IV
- Marvel vs. Capcom 2
- Guilty Gear XX Accent Core
Over 50,000 matches are expected to take place over the course of the weekend. The EVO World Finals are scheduled to take place on July 17-19 at the Rio Hotel and Resort. Make sure to check out the official EVO website right here.
