Multiplayer is a bit generic, with races only supporting six players at a time. You can pick the location of the race, which part of the map you will race on, and how many laps there will be. Unfortunately, multiplayer does not seem very busy at the moment. But hopefully, this will change over time.
Tracks in Smash Cars are very fun to play on, with fantastic layouts. Since you are playing as a tiny RC car, some big obstacles may come your way, such as dogs, people, and actual cars. If you want to come in first place, do not hit a human, as you’ll almost instantly be in last place. Dogs, on the other hand, can actually help you, as hitting the dogs will cause them to go into a frenzy, potentially messing up other racers. It’s a neat little touch that does make for a more interesting racing game.
As with nearly all racing games released now, you will need real-time physics destruction. And for a PlayStation Network title, Smash Cars does not disappoint. Your car will be smashing through watermelons, hitting basketballs, spitting up sand from the ground, and lots more. Also, if you’re hit enough times by other players, the car you’re driving will eventually start to smoke, so watch out.
Overall, Smash Cars is the best racing title on PSN yet. Because there’s not a lot of racing games to have graced the PlayStation Store, the value of this title within its genre is pretty significant. With its real-time physics destruction, solid handling, and nifty gameplay perks, you owe it to yourself to pick up this title.
