PS3 Review – G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Vehicles in this game are god-awful. It seems the developer tried for a Halo vehicle approach, and just totally missed it’s mark. Driving these things are a pain in the ass, and the controls are clunky as can be.

The game is incredibly easy, as at one point the controller was actually off as I went to do something else. The computer just does everything for you, and you’re just help. You do not die in the game, merely knocked out, and if you are playing on Casual mode, you will be automatically revived. Going up in the three modes that are available, you have Casual, Normal, and Hardcore. Being Hardcore, it is the hardest mode, and when you die, you actually stay dead. After playing this game, I wished I could as well.

Do not get me started on the game’s graphics, which look like they were from a mediocre 2005 PS2title. I was playing through a PS3 game, when clearly it looked as though I was playing a game from the last generation of consoles.

Finally, the story for this title I could not understand for the life of me, if there even was a story. It is set after the events of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and I was only aware of that by reading the back of the box.

Overall, the title is (sorry Double Helix) awful. Bad graphics, mixed with horrible gameplay, and an iffy camera, make this possibly one of the worst titles of the year. When you are making a game based off a rather large intellectual property, you want gamers to remember that this was a fantastic game. This is not the case at all.

PlayStation LifeStyle’s Final Score

Poor gameplay, and even worse controls.

Awful graphics make this title look like a PS2 or Xbox game from late 2004 or early 2005.

Devoid of storyline
