Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) today announced its participation in the Virgin Mobile FreeFest taking place Sunday, August 30 in Columbia MD. In addition to sponsoring the event which is free to over 35,000 fans, SCEA will be giving away prizes and free game content to several lucky attendees as well as providing entertainment for volunteers from around the country.
Dozens of volunteers who donated their time to work for Stand Up For Kids, a homeless youth outreach organization, will gain free access to the festival in addition to receiving a free flight from Los Angeles to Washington DC on a FreeFest Express plane provided by Virgin America. Throughout the course of their flight passengers will have the opportunity to step into the First Class VIP area and try their hand at the new RockBand Unplugged™ on the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system provided by PlayStation. Additional volunteers from organizations in New York and Boston will also have access to the game on MegaBus Express buses that will carry them to the event.
Once at the event, attendees will have a chance to stop by the PlayStation® “Take the Stage” Tent where aspiring musicians can sing along to their favorite songs on SingStar® and test their trivia skills on custom quizzes on Buzz!™Quiz TV. PlayStation fans who remember to bring their PSP system along will also be rewarded with free RockBand Unplugged™ songs that they can download and take anywhere. Additional free RockBand Unplugged game content will be available to win on a prize wheel found in the Kyocera Lucky Layoff Lounge.
