PS3 Review – Mini Ninjas

Besides using your friends, Hiro will find a wide range of magical spells. These spells can range from calling in lighting storms, to shooting fireballs, or slowing time.  Each spell differs quite a lot unfortunately, like the friends, you do not really need to use these. Sure they can help in some situations, but I found myself forgetting to use these quite a lot and still having little issue making it through the game.

The one pretty unique spell you have is the ability to take over animals. This spell is pretty cool since there is a wide range of animals. Unfortunately like a lot of the other extra features there is little reason to do this. Your enemies will still attack you and other then the ability to see items you need to collect better there is little reason to do it. This is a real shame since this was such a cool concept just seemed a little unused.

The graphics are absolutely gorgeous the colors are vibrant the characters motions are crisp this game just looks wonderful. The music and sound are also done extremely well. The sounds of nature as your walking through the woods really pull you in, the enemies fierce yet cute yells really capture that cartoon feel, and the overall soundtrack for the game fits so well with each level.

There are of course some issues with the game. This single biggest issue would have to be that there is so many things you can do and use, but there is little reason to do a lot of them. All the spells, characters and even the stealth aspect they throw in you can very easily go through the game and not use any of it. Now when you take the time to explore each spell and use each characters strengths it really is a much more enjoyable experience I just wish they would of pushed some of these extra features more.

Overall this is a wonderful game for kids and adults. There is a ton of variety and even if it is not all necessary to use the shear entertainment the game offers quickly makes you forget about these other issues. This is one everyone needs to try out and with the game releasing at $50 it really is a must own.

PlayStation LifeStyle’s Final Score

Lot of gameplay variety.

Visuals and sound design are top notch.

A lot of extra features can be under-utilized.
