The graphics for this game are astonishing to say the least. The animation looks like something out of a classic Disney movie. Comparing screens from the iPhone version to the PSN version gives you a glimpse of the major spike in the graphics department. The PSN title features different hand-drawn backgrounds for each stage, and they are beautiful. The game is even better in motion too, watching Biggs roll around incredibly fast, but very smoothly.

Surprisingly, Critter Crunch does in fact feature a multiplayer mode. Multiplayer features two options: Local Play, or Internet Play. When going into Internet Play, the player will have two more options: Versus or Co-op. Versus is whichever Biggs lasts the longest between two players. Filling up your hunger bar all the way will give a new row of critters to your opponent, and other surprising stuff can happen as well.

Co-op mode is essentially the same as Versus, without an opponent. Two players work together to stay alive, instead of working against one another. This mode would work perfectly for the player who really isn’t into battling against others, but working with them.

The online mode, to put it simply, is fun, and does not feel tacked on. Two modes for Critter Crunch online seems like a perfect amount, and any more would have probably been too much.

Critter Crunch starts out as being very simple in the beginning of the game, but as time progresses, gets more difficult and complex. This is especially shown by the puzzles and challenges, which sometimes are brain numbingly challenging. As the story progresses, the game does seem to get a little bit complicated. However, practice does make perfect, and so playing the gamer for a long time might give the player the hang of all these creatures.

Overall, Critter Crunch is a simple yet challenging, addicting, fun time. The graphics in this game are gorgeous, and you can tell our friends at Capybara Games have put a lot of effort into the title. It may not be one of the greatest PSN titles, but it is a blast, and definitely worth your 7 dollars.

PlayStation LifeStyle’s Final Score

An addictive title that will “eat up” hours of your time.

Gorgeous animation.

Fun and cute, even with all of the barfing.
