If the Spike Video Game Awards are the video gaming industry’s equivalent of the MTV Movie Awards, than the Oscars are Hollywood’s equivalent to the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. As 2009 comes to a close, various networks are beginning and concluding their award ceremonies but none can stack up to the prestige of the AIAS awards. After all, Twilight and Grand Theft Auto IV may have netted best picture at the MTV Awards and VGA’s, respectively, but the true achievement lies within Slumdog Millionaire and LittleBigPlanet and their victories at the Oscars and AIAS (forgive me, I’m Indian).
The 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards for recognition of the greatest digital arts from 2009 will be held on February 18, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The previous ceremony was broadcast to viewers on the Independent Film Channel but this year, there are plans to include a webcast for enthusiasts without the television channel to see.
Of course, we will have more on the awards and live streams as information is released. After all, this wouldn’t be PlayStation LifeStyle if we didn’t keep you connected. Plus, stay tuned for the final list of nominees as we near closer to the event.
