FIFA 10 became the fastest selling sports game of all time when released. It continued to boast its position in the charts beating off competition for numerous weeks and taking the 2nd place spot in the Christmas charts. EA continues to gloat FIFA 10’s status in the market and claims the franchise is “beating the heck out of” PES.
EA’s European boss Jens Uwe Intat told MCV that the franchise was “beating the heck” out of rivals Pro Evolution Soccer in Europe.
We continue to beat the heck of Pro Evo and across Europe we’re taking 75 per cent of the football space. FIFA was neck and neck with Modern Warfare 2 [in 2009] to be the best-selling game across Europe.
FIFA 10 certainly made its mark in 2009, beating Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 by clear daylight, but most of their sales of the sports title was without a doubt helped by Tesco’s first day cut price of £24.97 (around $40).
