Bobby Kotick has been the center of many gamers’ fury as of late. When Kotick made the empty threat of pulling all Activision support from Sony consoles if they did not drop the price of the PS3, he instantly became the most hated man in the industry. In a recent interview, he strayed from his usual trend of talking about squeezing money from consumers, and instead made an obvious, but nevertheless harsh, comment.
In the interview, Kotick slammed all of Activision’s prior work on the Spider-Man games.
“Our Spider-Man games have sucked for the last five years. They are bad games. They were poorly rated because they were bad games. We went away from what is Spider-Man. It’s about web-slinging. If you don’t do web-slinging, what is the fantasy of Spider-Man?”
He went on to say:
“I think it was one of those wake-up calls. Even if you’ve been doing this a long time.”
It should be noted that the original Spider-Man game on the PlayStation was good, and received a Metacritic score of 95. Stick with PlayStation LifeStyle as we’ll bring you all the latest commentary from everybody’s favorite executive!
