The original PlayStation Portable is still selling very well in Japan. Just how well, you ask? The Media Create numbers have finally been revealed. It seems that the PSP is on both the high and low ends of the sales charts.
- PSP – 71,186
- Wii – 57,349
- PlayStation 3- 35,156
- Nintendo DSi LL – 30,418
- Nintendo DSi – 27,292
- Nintendo DS Lite – 6,574
- Xbox 360 – 4,622
- PlayStation 2 – 2,580
- PSPgo – 2,027
Japan hasn’t seemed to accepted the PSPgo as well as its UMD sibling. It may be due to the price point or the lack of a UMD drive, or a combination of the two. In any case, the new handheld doesn’t seem to be faring well at all. However, it is good to see the original PSP selling so well in Japan.
