Ever since MGS: Peace Walker was announced at E3, it has commonly been referred to as ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’, by everyone from Kojima Productions, even the legend himself, Hideo Kojima. So how close was the latest PSP iteration to being the 5th Metal Gear game? ‘Solid’ proof has been revealed and it was much closer than you think.
In a recent blog on the KP blog page, Kojima Productions PR head Jiro Oishi, uploaded some early concept work for MGS: Peace Walker and would you look at that..it was labeled as..Metal Gear Solid 5: Peace Walker! Check out the artwork below.
Now it makes total sense as to why Hideo refers to it as ‘MGS5-class’ game. When it was announced, it was certainly a mini-ton that Mr. Kojima was working on a Metal Gear PSP. Just think of the megaton it would have been had it stayed Metal Gear Solid 5!
If you want to get some hands-on with Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, download the demo off the PSN today. Metal Gear fans (I’m a huge fan!) will be very much pleased.
Look for MGS: PW to finally arrive this summer, as it hits on May 25th in the US and May 28th in Europe.
