Although the first game didn’t exactly receive a warm reception, Eidos Interactive and Avalanche are looking to stick to their series and change that with Just Cause 2. From parachuting from the high islands of Panau to using the laws of physics to annihilate enemies, the developers are looking to push sand-boxed styled video games to the limit. Eidos will allow PlayStation 3 owners to grab a taste of some high-flying action with a demo.
Publisher Square Enix has announced a Just Cause 2 demo will be dropping on to the PlayStation Store in next week’s PSN update on March 4th. The news is confirmed by Square’s London Community Manager Mike Oldman via his twitter. Oldman also gave an insight of what to expect from the demo of the action platformer, while he was speaking to community fan site Panau Island.
The demo will give you a pretty good snapshot of what the final game has to offer. So in terms of Rico’s abilities and the crazy stunts he can pull off – it’s all in there. There’s also one whole multi-stage faction mission for you to try, a race challenge and ample opportunities to cause chaos at pretty much every turn. There’s a good mix of vehicles, everything from tuk tuks to planes, helicopters to jeeps, military and civilian.
It’s approximately 35 square miles of sandy desert, featuring towns and settlements, military bases, runways (and planes) and plenty more. In terms of freedom, it’s really up to you, but we’ve certainly included more than enough to play with.
Two new stunt trailers for the game were recently released. Just Cause 2 will also receive a video capture and upload feature exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on the game’s release on March 23rd for the US and March 26th for the UK.
