The Modern Warfare franchise has built a reputation for featuring one of, if not the best (and addictive) online multiplayer components. Modern Warfare 2 continued that trend, but DICE’s Bad Company 2 is a strong contender to dethrone Modern Warfare 2’s status. Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinity Ward, believes that no game can top Modern Warfare 2 as the most popular online game so far.
Infinity Ward‘s Robert Bowling has told CVG that there is no threat from potential competition such as the likes of Medal Of Honor and Activision’s COD7 to be released later this year. When asked if he thought any title could beat Modern Warfare 2’s successful online multiplayer, Bowling responded:
No. I hope not. I certainly don’t see any signs of it. We’ve been number one since launch and this map pack [Stimulus – released today] is going to bring even more people to playing MW2 and extend their play time. I don’t see it slipping any time soon.
When asked if Bad Company 2, COD7 and Medal of Honor posed any threat to Modern Warfare 2, Bowling replied:
No. We’ll just focus on providing for our audience who love our brand of game. Whatever comes out of that is just a bonus to that. But I think they’ll always find what we have going on entertaining if they like it.
Which online do you personally prefer? Modern Warfare 2 or Bad Company 2?
