Devil May Cry May Make a Return

The last title in the Devil May Cry series, Devil May Cry 4, was released back in 2007 across multiple platforms. While the series enjoyed three iterations on the PlayStation 2, there has yet to be any announcement for a new PS3 installment. Recently there is some indication a new Devil May Cry title is in fact in development.

England-based developer Ninja Theory, who created the PlayStation 3 exclusive Heavenly Sword, is currently working on a secret project. The project is believed to be Devil May Cry 5 – according to the latest issue of GameInformer, which reports:

Loose Talk has learned that Enslaved isn’t the only game Ninja Theory is working on-we’ve heard that the Cambridge, England developer is being tapped for the next Devil May Cry.

It is not totally unexpected, however; Capcom has said that although it is shying away from Western developers for new IP, it would continue to utilize them for known franchises, which DMC certainly is.

Treat this as a rumor, but if it does happen, Capcom giving away Devil May Cry to other developers is an intriguing decision, indeed.
