Many worried when developer Crystal Dynamics announced a new Tomb Raider early last month. Why? Well, because it wasn’t really a Tomb Raider title at all, but rather a downloadable title called Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light. But those worries thoughts can be put to rest, as the Tomb Raider franchise will not be staying digital.
Square Enix Europe CEO Phil Rogers has revealed that there will be essentially two series for Tomb Raider: the actual Tomb Raider games, and the “Lara Croft” downloadable titles.
“I’m not saying this is a split – we’re not driving a huge wedge through this – but we had always planned separating the two, with the Lara name in digital and the Tomb Raider brand at retail.”
Lara Croft and The Guardian of Light launches this summer on the PlayStation Network.
