Bionic Commando: Rearmed was Capcom’s remake of the popular NES game from the 80s. The remake of the classic racked up over 100,000 downloads in its first week. Therefore, it only makes sense that a sequel would follow.
As spotted on the Capcom Unity website, Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 has been officially announced. Set to release sometime this quarter and developed by Fat Shark, the game still stars Nathan Spencer taking on a ruthless villain (in this case, General Sabio, a “new technologically sophisticated foe.”). While this looks to be essentially the same action platformer we all know and love, there are a few key differences in this iteration.
For starters, there will be new weapons, attacks and upgrades for the Bionic Arm. These are currently unspecified but will no doubt be revealed the closer we are to launch day. New physics-based puzzles are going to make an appearance here, “[taking] the platforming experience to another level.” Yes, co-op is still here. But perhaps the biggest difference in this sequel compared to any other traditional entry in the series is that the ability to jump has finally made its way in, and you can take a peek at this new ability in the trailer. Also of note is that the cut-scene art will be designed by Massive Black studio – they’ve worked on games such as inFamous, Bioshock 2 and God of War III.
