Since being announced in December of ’09 at the SpikeTV VGA awards, fans of Batman: Arkham Asylum have ran through the teaser trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 with a fine pick comb, searching for any clues as to know who might be in the blockbuster sequel. Quite a bit of news has come out of the dark night and we have assembled the list of Joker’s jesters and are ready to let you all know exactly who’ll Batman will be facing this time.
If you’ve been following PSLS since Batman:AA 2 was announced, then you already know that Dan ‘The Man’ Massi was on the case soon after the initial announcement. His images and information here lead everyone to believe that three villains would appear that were a no-show in the original game. The Penguin, Black Mask, and Tw0-Face. While we can’t confirm The Penguin or the Black Mask, we can confirm that Two-Face will certainly appear in the game, thanks to a clever fan during an Q and A with Kevin Conroy, THE voice of Batman, at the C2E2 Event in Chicago this past weekend. Kevin even confirmed that that the title will feature a huge cast of villains and will sport a much darker tone than the original.
Next up we can confirm that Mr. Freeze will indeed appear in Batman: AA 2. How so? Actor Maurice Lemarche made it official while on GeekCastRadio that he will indeed be the voice of Batman’s coldest villain.
Video games is hard work, I’ll say that. I’ve only done a handful, and I’m very lucky right now, I’m about to go in and do Mr. Freeze for Arkham Asylum 2.
The score so far: Two-Face and Mr. Freeze are in like flynn! Black Mask is more than likely, but wait..it seems someone else told their role as a potential villainess as well. Thanks to the glorious news machine that is Twitter (Just ask David Jaffe!), the beautiful and sultry actress, Stana Katic, star of Castle confirmed that she will playing none other than Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra al Ghul, one of Batman’s most well known enemies.
For those who were asking: I’m voicing Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra al Ghul (played by Liam Neeson in “Batman Begins”)
Hmmm…you can’t have the daughter without the father, right?
Last, but not least, is the rumor that actor Vincent Martella who voiced ‘Hope’ in Final Fantasy XIII and who also voiced Young Jason Todd/Robin the direct-to-DVD, Batman: Under the Red Hood, will be playing Tim Drake Robin in B: AA 2! Makes sense, right? Too bad the source is a little shabby– IMBD.com listings have always been known for being way off or way right, on certain films, games, etc. This could be the case here. If we hear more about this possibility, we will let you know. Perhaps Robin will appear and let us know get our online co-op on!?!
The updated score card: (Confirmed) Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Talia al Ghul, and Mr. Freeze. (Rumored) The Penguin and Black Mask. Based on the ending of B:AA, Bane should be returning, even though the Batman mobile gave him a glorious taste of Gotham River.
Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 is shaping up to be one helluva’ sequel. Here’s to hoping that recent ‘rock star’ developers, RockSteady doesn’t buckle under the immense pressure and hype that comic fans and gamers alike are going to bestow the title by the time it finally hits store shelves. We will be covering every bit of news until then, so you better be checking PlayStation LifeStyle on a daily basis so you don’t miss out!
