With every PlayStation 3 firmware update, often comes unannounced features – some useful and some no one cares much about. The latest, unexpected PS3 firmware 3.30 ramps up the trophy system and introduces 3D gaming to our favorite console. However, it’s not just trophy enhancements and 3D which were included within the firmware.
First, it seems the issues with certain region-free Blu-Ray discs have been fixed. The flash version which the PS3 browser uses has also been updated – so, there shouldn’t be any issues in watching web videos (YouTube, PSLS Videos, etc) now. A new BD Audio Output setting under Video Settings have been added for optical output. More information can be found here. You can also sort your trophies by the game title or by the date earned, which is a nice addition.
But that’s not all. Apparently, an option for PC remote play is available. PlayStation.com reports:
You can now select [PC] as an option under [Remote Play Settings] > [Register Device]. When you select this option, you will be able to use the remote play feature to operate your PS3 system from future models of the VAIO PC. Details of this feature will be announced on the official VAIO website at vaio.eu/playstation in May 2010.
More information regarding the 3.30 firmware update can be found here.
