New COD Unveiled; Call of Duty: Black Ops

Some of us may of seen this coming – it was inevitable to occur. Geoff Keighley previously revealed that the upcoming GTTV will feature the global announcement for the next Call of Duty. Well, the next Call of Duty which will air on GameTrailers TV tonight has been revealed. Not only that – an exact release date, too.

Treyarch, the developers behind the hugely successful Call of Duty: World At War, has revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game, which received no further details, is scheduled for a release on November 9th, 2010. The official website for Black Ops is live, and this is what the blog post said:

We at Treyarch are excited to reveal our latest development – Call of Duty: Black Ops! Be sure to head over to CallOfDuty.com/blackops as more details begin to unfold! Follow @JD_2020 and @Treyarch on Twitter for the latest news & discussions regarding Black Ops.

Well, if it doesn’t get leaked early, at least we can look forward to Black Ops’ official trailer soon (12.40 am), which apparently will be “the talk of the Internet” this weekend.

Previous reports have suggested that Black Ops would take place in historic times in history during the Cold War, World War II, and the SAS mission during the Iranian embassy siege in London in April 1980. Also speculated was that Black Ops would feature a zombie mode – similarly to World at War.
