One of the major changes during the current hardware war without a doubt is the death of 3rd-party exclusives. Once mighty PlayStation supporter Square Enix has shown the 360 unheralded support with exclusives that many PS3 owners have been asking for. Even Capcom has shown favoritism to the other two competitors, as Monster Hunter 3 Tri was originally revealed to be a PS3 exclusive, which later became a Wii exclusive. However, it seems Capcom has changed their ways with 40 games coming to the PlayStation brand of consoles during the 2010 fiscal year. I think it’s safe to say Capcom is showing us some love. Check out the breakdown inside.
During Capcom’s fiscal breakdown of 2009, they let it be known that they plan to release 75 SKUs in total and plan to ship 20 million units in 2010. The PlayStation brand covers 40 of those titles, which results with the PS brand totaling over 50% of Capcom’s releases for fiscal year 2010, which runs from April 1st 2010 to March 31st 2011. Here’s the breakdown:
- PlayStation Portable: 19 titles, 5 Million units shipped.
- PlayStation 3: 16 titles , 6 Million units shipped.
- PlayStation 2: 5 titles, 500,000 units shipped.
The most interesting angle of this news is the fact that the 360 is receiving 4 less titles than the PS3, for a total of 12. We know of one PS3 exclusive, Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes, but what could these other 3 be? Japan only exclusives? Something to be revealed at E3? Seeing as how E3 is just over a month away and Sony has already revealed LittleBigPlanet 2 and SOCOM 4 to the world, could Capcom and Sony have something up their collective sleeve?
PlayStation LifeStyle will be at E3 with our biggest crew yet so you better believe we will report any and all the news you will need to know!
